	Remove
1	Lift vehicle on vehicle lift		AR00.60-P-1000AK
2.1	Disconnect center muffler (2) at connecting point (T)	Engine 270 in model 117, 156, 176, 246 For first-time replacing of the center muffler (2).
		Clamp, rear muffler to center muffler or diesel particulate filter	*BA49.10-P-1010-01AL
2.2	Detach mounting clamp (6)	Engine 270 in model 242
3	Detach repair clamp at connecting point (T)	Engine 270 in model 117, 156, 176, 246 After first-time replacing of the center muffler (2).
4	Detach mounting clamp (5) of center muffler (2) on catalytic converter	Engine 270 in model 156	AR49.10-P-5500NKX
		Engine 270 in model 117, 176, 242, 246	AR49.10-P-5500MT
5	Pull center muffler (2) out of elastomer bearings and remove downwards
	Clean
6	Remove combustion and corrosion residues on connecting points of rear muffler (3) and of center muffler (2)
	Check
7	Check elastomer bearings for damage	If damage is present ↓ Replace elastomer bearing.
	Install
8	Introduce center muffler (2) in elastomer bearings	Apply lubricating paste to the elastomer bearings.

9	Mount mounting clamp (5) of center muffler (2) on catalytic converter	Engine 270 in model 156	AR49.10-P-5500NKX

10.1	Attach new repair clamp between center muffler (2) and rear muffler (3) and align	Engine 270 in model 117, 156, 176, 246 Align repair clamp to the markings (arrows).
10.2	Mount mounting clamp (6)	Engine 270 in model 242 Replace mounting clamp (6).

11	Align center muffler (2) and rear muffler (3) unstressed
12.1	Tighten repair clamp	Engine 270 in model 117, 156, 176, 246

14	Check installation position and unobstructed movement of center muffler (2) and rear muffler (3)
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15	Carry out an engine test run and check exhaust system for leaktightness
