Remove/install crossmember under instrument panel - AR68.10-P-1120NKB

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Remove dashboard MODEL 117, 156
MODEL 176
without CODE 516 (Audio 5 radio with USB interface)		 AR68.10-P-1000NKA 
MODEL 242, 246 AR68.10-P-1000NKB
2 Remove steering column   AR46.10-P-0400NKB
NOTES The steering column is a safety component and should be removed completely before repair; do not allow to hang on joint. Otherwise the damage can occur and the steering column must be replaced.  
3 Remove electrical connector (2) from bracket (3)    
4 Disconnect electrical connector (4) from COMAND fan motor (M4/13) MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246
with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer)

with CODE 526 (COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation))
MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246
with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))		  
5 Unscrew nut from ground point (6)    
6 Disconnect electrical connector (7) from Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10)    
7 Unscrew nut from ground point (9)    
8 Completely remove electrical wiring harness (10) and all electrical lines from crossmember (1) and lay down in padding of instrument panel IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.

9 Remove bolt (11) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, crossmember strut to transmission tunnel *BA68.10-P-1003-02D 
10 Unscrew nuts (12)    
11 Remove screws/bolts (13)    
12 Remove bracket (14)    
13 Remove bolts (15)    
14 Remove screws/bolts (16) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, crossmember to firewall below windshield *BA68.10-P-1002-02D 
15 Remove screws/bolts (17) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, crossmember to A-pillar *BA68.10-P-1001-02D 
16 Remove crossmember (1) and guide out of vehicle IMPORTANT Helper required.  
17 Remove COMAND fan motor (M4/13) from crossmember (1) MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246
with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer)
MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246
with CODE 526 (COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation))
MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246
with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
When replacing crossmember (1).		  
18 Install in the reverse order
