Replace Valve Stem Seals - AR05.30-P-3500-02MM

  1. Use SPECIAL TOOL pliers (07) to pull off valve stem seals (5).
  2. Check valve stems for formation of burrs and pitting.

    For ridging on the valve stems

    ↓

    Deburr valve stems.

    For pittings on valve stems

    ↓

    Replace valves.

  3. Fit protective sleeve onto the valve stem.

  4. Coat valve stem seals (5) with engine oil.

    IMPORTANT Engine 133, 270, 274 During assembly ensure that the valve stem seals (5) are installed with the brown sealing on the exhaust side and with the green sealing on the inlet side.

    IMPORTANT Engine 152 Engine 276.9## ## up to 868961 except code 929 (Ethanol fuelled engine)

    Engine 276.9## ## up to 869781 with code 929 (Ethanol fuelled engine)

    The valve stem seals (5) on the inlet and exhaust side are identical.

    IMPORTANT Engine 157, 276.8, 278 Engine 276.9## ## as of 868962 except code 929 (Ethanol fuelled engine)

    Engine 276.9## ## as of 869782 with code 929 (Ethanol fuelled engine)

    During assembly ensure that the valve stem seals (5) are installed without a double lip (picture A) on the inlet side and the valve stem seals (5) are installed with a double lip (picture B) on the exhaust side.

    The valve stem seals (5) are identical in color so must not be swapped around.

  5. Press valve stem seals (5) with SPECIAL TOOL drift (08) up to the end stop.
  6. Remove protective sleeve from the valve stem.
