Check Basic Position Of Camshafts - AR05.20-P-6010MRA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove both Hall sensors on camshafts   AR15.10-P-2000MRA
2 Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter    
3 Rotate engine at crankshaft center bolt in direction of engine rotation to top dead center (ignition TDC) on cylinder 1 IMPORTANT The TDC marking on belt pulley/vibration damper must be aligned with positioning edge on timing case cover.
SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench bit

INSPECT Check     
4 Check basic position of camshafts IMPORTANT The basic position of the camshafts is checked by a visual inspection over the Hall sensor openings on cylinder head cover (3).
IMPORTANT To check the exhaust camshaft adjustment the edge (1a) of the partial segment of the segment disc (1) must be visible in the middle in the Hall sensor opening (picture). To check the intake camshaft adjustment the bearing slot (2a) of the segment disc (2) must stand in the middle in the Hall sensor opening (picture).
If the basic position is not correct

Set basic position of camshafts.

5 Install in the reverse order
