Remove/Install Refrigerant Compressor - AR83.55-P-5310MRI

DANGER Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234y refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated. REMOVING Remove     
1 Discharge air conditioning system.   AR83.30-P-1760LW 
2 Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter.    
3 Remove fan unit. Engine 264 in model 253  
      AR20.40-P-5050MRP
4 Mount protective plate on cooler. Engine 264 in model 253  
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS     WF58.50-P-0110-04A
5 Remove poly-V-belt. Engine 264 in model 205, 253 with code B01 (48V technology) AR13.22-P-1202MRM
    Engine 264 in model 205, 253 except code B01 (48V technology) AR13.22-P-1202MRI
6 Release and disconnect electrical connector (4).    
7 Remove screw (8).    
8 Remove low-pressure line (7) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
9 Remove screw (6).    
10 Remove high-pressure line (5) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
11 Remove screws (2, 9).    
12 Remove screw (10) of coolant line (11). Engine 264 in model 205
except code B01 (48V technology)
 
13.1 Remove screw (3) and lift out refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7). Engine 264 in model 205, 253 with code B01 (48V technology)  
13.2 Unscrew screw (3), remove together with holder (12) and lift out refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7). Engine 264 in model 205
except code B01 (48V technology)
 
INSTALLING Install     
14.1 Position refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7) on timing case cover and tighten screw (3) slightly by hand. Engine 264 in model 205, 253 with code B01 (48V technology)  
14.2 Position refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7) on timing case cover, insert holder (12) and tighten screw (3) slightly by hand. Engine 264 in model 205
except code B01 (48V technology)
 
15 Tighten screws (2, 3, 9). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, refrigerant compressor to timing case/engine carrier *BA83.55-P-1001-02D 
16 Tighten screw (10) of coolant line (11). Engine 264 in model 205
except code B01 (48V technology)
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION M6X1 *BA00.10-P-1002-04A 
17 Remove stop plugs, attach high-pressure line (5) with new sealing ring and tighten screw (6) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, refrigerant line to refrigerant compressor *BA83.55-P-1002-02D

18 Remove stop plugs, attach low-pressure line (7) with new sealing ring and tighten screw (8) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, refrigerant line to refrigerant compressor *BA83.55-P-1002-02D

19 Connect electrical connector (4) until it locks into place.    
20 Install poly-V-belt. Engine 264 in model 205, 253 with code B01 (48V technology) AR13.22-P-1202MRM

21 Remove protective plate from radiator. Engine 264 in model 253  
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS     WF58.50-P-0110-04A
22 Install fan unit. Engine 264 in model 253  
      AR20.40-P-5050MRP
23 Install engine air intake duct upstream of air filter.    
24 Evacuate and fill air conditioning system.   AR83.30-P-1760LW 
  Concluding tasks     
25 Perform commissioning of refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7) using diagnostic system. When replacing refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7).

    IMPORTANT Menu item: Control unit adaptations.  
WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
26 Perform engine test run, check air conditioning system for proper operation while doing so.
