Replace Tires - AR40.10-P-1030EW

2.1 Detach wheel balance weight (43a) using assembly tool For clamped wheel balance weight (43a).

2.2 Remove wheel balance weight (43a) using removal tool For glued wheel balance weight (43a).
NOTES Do not use hard, pointed or sharp-edged tools.
Otherwise the surface of the disk wheels may be damaged.

3 Unscrew valve element from valve (43g)    
4 Drain TIREFIT tire sealant out of tire After using the TIREFIT tire sealant.

5 Position the press-off blade of the tire mounting device on the tire bead flank    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 83 00 Tire mounting device   WS40.00-P-0006B
    NOTES Do not position bead breaker shovel on tire sidewall.
The carcass can be damaged otherwise.

Do not position bead breaker shovel on the inner and outer side of the tire near the valve (43g).
The tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3 A69/4) may be damaged otherwise.

Do not position the bead breaker shovel at the opposing bead edge of the valve (43g).
The tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) may be damaged otherwise.
 
6 Press inner and outer bead flank over safety bead seats and into drop center of disk wheel    
7 Fasten disk wheel on tire mounting device    
8 Apply coating of assembly paste onto disk wheel flange and tire beads NOTES Model 117, 156, 166, 172, 176, 205, 206, 207, 212, 213, 217, 218, 231, 232, 238, 242, 246, 253, 292, 297 with code 475 (Tire pressure monitor (TPM))

Do not grease the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise, the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) may malfunction.
 
9 Position disk wheel on tire mounting device so that the valve (43g), when viewed in the direction of rotation (arrow) of the disk wheel, i is located 10 cm behind the mounting head    
10 Align mounting head at small distances (X, Y) to disk wheel    
11.1 Use assembly lever to lever the tire beads over the mounting lug of the mounting head and detach the tire from the disk wheel For tires without emergency running characteristics.

Do not exert any force on the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise it will be damaged.
 
11.2 Position hold-down tool on upper side of bead edge and press tire into drop center, then position hold-down tool on lower side and remove tire For run-flat tires.

Do not exert any force on the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise it will be damaged.
 
INSPECT Check     
12 Check condition of disk wheel   AR40.10-P-1010-01A 
13 Check the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) and the valve body (3) in installed condition for signs of damage Model 117, 156, 166, 172, 176, 205, 206, 207, 212, 213, 217, 218, 231, 232, 238, 242, 246, 253, 292, 297 with code 475 (Tire pressure monitor (TPM))

NOTES Do not retighten union nut (2).
The tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) will be damaged otherwise.
NOTES Only use plastic valve caps.
Otherwise corrosion damage may occur.
If the union nut (2) or the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) is visibly loose or if damage is visible.
↓
Replace tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
 
CLEAN Clean     
14 Clean tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) using a clean lint-free cloth Model 117, 156, 166, 172, 176, 205, 206, 207, 212, 213, 217, 218, 231, 232, 238, 242, 246, 253, 292, 297 with code 475 (Tire pressure monitor (TPM))

NOTES Do not use compressed air, solvents or cleaners.
The tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3 A69/4) will be damaged otherwise.

Do not grease the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise, the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) may malfunction.
 
17 Position disk wheel on tire mounting device so that the valve (43g) is approximately 180° opposite the mounting head

18 Place new tire at an angle on disk wheel and align mounting head at small distances (X, Y) to disk wheel IMPORTANT Observe running direction on unidirectional tires.
Observe the markings indicating the inside and outside of the tire.
On vehicles with mixed tires observe the correct assignment of the tire to disk wheel.
 
19.1 Pull tire over shoulder onto disk wheel using the tire mounting device For tires without emergency running characteristics.

Do not exert any force on the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise it will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Load the tire beads as little as possible.
 
19.2 Position hold-down tool on bead edge, push tire into drop center, then position the bead protector at the traction point, and pull tire using tire mounting device over the flange onto the disk wheel For run-flat tires.

Do not exert any force on the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise it will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Load the tire beads as little as possible.
 
20 Align light spots of tire and disk wheel with each other    
21 Remove disk wheel with tire from tire mounting device    
22 Unscrew valve element from valve (43g) Only if valve (43g) was replaced.  
23 Inflate tire NOTES The tire pressure may not exceed 3.3 bar.
Otherwise the tire bead may be damaged.
IMPORTANT The tire bead must slip uniformly over the rim shoulder.
 
24 Screw valve element into valve (43g)    
25 Correct tire inflation pressure
