Adjust Rear Door - AR72.12-P-0650MFC

INSPECT Check     
1 Check gap dimensions at rear door (5). NOTES
Always perform adjustment work on uneven gap dimensions on upper and lower hinge leaves. Otherwise, tension will occur, resulting in damage.
HAND-HELD TESTER Front door to rear door

    HAND-HELD TESTER Rear door to side wall *BE60.00-P-1011-01NA 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
2 Mark position of the lock striker (2) relative to the C-pillar.    
3 Remove screws (1) and remove lock striker (2).    
4 Unscrew screw (6) and move door holder to zero position. NOTES
Move door holder to zero position.
To prevent paint damage.
 
  If adjustment work is required via hinge leaves of B-pillar (8)     
5 Expose seat belt, remove with connected electric lines and place to one side. NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.
IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electrical connectors.

6 Alternately loosen nuts (7) and nuts (9). NOTES
During the adjustment procedure, ensure that only nuts (7) or nuts (9) are loosened.
Otherwise, paint damage will occur if the rear door (5) makes contact with other component parts.
 
7 Adjust corresponding gap dimensions by moving rear door (5). NOTES
Carefully move rear door (5).
Otherwise, paint damage will occur if the rear door (5) makes contact with other component parts.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
HAND-HELD TESTER Front door to rear door

    HAND-HELD TESTER Longitudinal member panel to front door/rear door *BE60.00-P-1024-01NA 
    HAND-HELD TESTER Rear door to side wall *BE60.00-P-1011-01NA 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
8 Tighten nuts (7) and nuts (9). IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, hinge to B-pillar

  If adjustment work is required via hinge leaves of rear door (5)     
9 Alternately loosen bolt (3) and bolt (4). NOTES
During the adjustment procedure, ensure that only the screw (3) or screw (4) are loosened. Otherwise, paint damage will occur if the rear door (5) makes contact with other component parts.
 
10 By moving rear door (5), adjust transition of B-pillar (8) to rear door (5) and adjust door position in a vertical direction. IMPORTANT The contour of the B-pillar (8) must be flush with the contour of the rear door (5) or protrude by no more than 1 mm.
Aid of helper required.
 
11 Tighten screw (3) and screw (4). IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, hinge to rear door

INSTALLING Install     
12 Position lock striker (2) on the C-pillar and tighten screws (1) up to end stop. IMPORTANT It must still be possible to adjust lock striker (2).  
13 Adjust transition between the rear door (5) and the C-pillar by moving lock striker (2). IMPORTANT The contour of the rear door (5) must be flush with the contour of the C-pillar or protrude by no more than 1 mm.  
14 Tighten screws (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, lock striker to C-pillar *BA72.12-P-1004-01R 
15 Repair paint damage on bolt heads of the screws (3, 4). If adjustment work is required via hinge leaves of rear door (5).  
Notice  General notes on touch-up applicators and paint spray cans   AH98.00-P-9409-06A
16 Protect rear door (5) and B-pillar (8) in the area of both hinges against corrosion. Wax for engine compartment (400 ml spray can) *BR00.45-Z-1018-05A 
17 Install seat belt. If adjustment work was required via hinge leaves of B-pillar (8). AR91.40-P-1010MFA
18 Adjust the rear door side window.   AR67.30-P-0016MFC
