Check Basic Position Of Camshafts - AR05.20-P-6010MFG

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove position sensor of the exhaust camshaft.   AR07.04-P-0057MFG
2 Remove position sensor of the intake camshaft.   AR07.04-P-0056MFG
3 Remove right front fender liner.   AR88.10-P-1301MFA
INSPECT Check     
4 Turn engine to top dead center position.   AR01.10-P-1000-01MFG

5 Check basic position of camshafts. IMPORTANT The basic position of the camshafts is checked by a visual inspection over the Hall sensor openings on cylinder head cover (3).
IMPORTANT To check the exhaust camshaft position, the bearing slots (1a) of the pulse wheel (1) must visibly be in the center of the Hall sensor opening. To check the intake camshaft position, the bearing slots (2a) of the pulse wheel (2) must be in the center of the Hall sensor opening.
If the basic position of the camshafts is not correct,

Set basic position of the camshafts.

INSTALLING Install     
6 Install right front fender liner.   AR88.10-P-1301MFA
7 Install position sensor of the intake camshaft.   AR07.04-P-0056MFG
8 Install position sensor of the exhaust camshaft.   AR07.04-P-0057MFG
