Remove/Install Oil Engine Separator - AR01.20-P-9750MFD

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Do not fill Engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove upper Engine cover.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install upper Engine cover until after the leak test. AP01.10-P-2405-01C
2 Release and disconnect bleed line at connecting flange to charge-air distributor and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
3 Release and disconnect electrical connector at partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2).    
4 Remove partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2) from bracket.    
5 Remove charge-air distributor. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install lower Engine compartment lining after leak test. AR09.41-P-8683MFC
6 Remove coolant hose (13) and seal openings with suitable protective covers. SPECIAL TOOL Hose clamp pliers Fig 3

7 Remove retaining clamp (12), remove coolant hose (11) and coolant connection from coolant thermostat, and place to one side.    
8 Seal openings using suitable protective covers. SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective covers Fig 2
9 Release and disconnect electrical connector from crankshaft Hall sensor (B70).   AR15.12-P-2136MFC
10 Remove electrical wiring harnesses at oil separator (1). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 5
11 Remove screws (2 - 10) at oil separator (1) in reverse numerical order. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Observe numerical order.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, oil separator to crankcase

12 Remove partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2) and oil separator (1) at the same time. IMPORTANT The partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2) and the oil separator (1) form a single unit. Do not separate partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2) and oil separator (1).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that seal of oil separator (1) is seated correctly.
 
13 Clean sealing surfaces. INSTALLATION NOTES The sealing surface on the oil separator (1) and on the crankcase must be free of dust and grease.
Otherwise there may be adhesion problems. Assembly cleaner

14 Install in the reverse order.    
15 Read out fault memory and delete if necessary.

16 Check Engine oil level and correct.

WARNING Risk of burn  injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
17 Perform Engine test run; while doing so, check Engine in area of oil separator (1) for leak tightness.    
18 Install lower Engine compartment lining. Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 with code 460 (Canada version) with code 494 (US version) with code 835 (South Korea version) with code 945 (China Stage 6 exhaust treatment) with code M016 (Uprated Engine) AR61.20-P-1105MFR

19 Install upper Engine cover.
