Remove/install roll bar - AR91.50-P-2355RK

MODEL 231 

MODIFICATION NOTES

10.10.12 "Replace roll bar unit with damaged plug" added. Operation step 10

DANGER Risk of injury  when performing check and repair work in area of roll bar Keep body parts out of the area where the roll bar unit extends. AS91.00-Z-0003-01RQ
REMOVING Remove     
1 Fully open Vario roof using Vario roof switch    
DANGER Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
2 Disconnect battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003RK

3 Remove manual draft stop Model 231
except code 285 (Draught stop)
 
4 Remove rear panel cover   AR68.30-P-4750RK
5 Remove interior trim at roll bar   AR68.30-P-1380RK
6 Remove electric draft stop (1) Model 231
with code 285 (Draught stop)
AR77.25-P-2000RK
7 Remove right stowage box/tray (2)    
8 Remove right bracket (3)    
9 Remove rear luggage box (4)   AR68.30-P-7440RK
10 Disconnect electrical connector for left roll bar trigger solenoid (Y57/2) or right roll bar trigger solenoid (Y57/3) NOTES
The plug for the left roll bar trigger solenoid (Y57/2) or right roll bar trigger solenoid (Y57/3) must not be repaired. If the plug is damaged, the roll bar unit (8) must be replaced.
The function of the roll bar unit (8) cannot be guaranteed with a repaired plug.
 
11 Unscrew bolts (5)    
12 Remove screw/bolts (6)    
13 Remove screws/bolts (7)    
14 Remove roll bar unit (8)    
INSTALLING Install     
15 Turn back compensating elements (9)    
16 Position roll bar unit (8)    
17 Screw in bolts (6, 7) IMPORTANT Do not tighten screws/bolts (6, 7) yet.  
18 Screw in screws/bolts (5) and tighten them TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, roll bar unit to body *BA91.50-P-1001-01A 
19 Tighten screws/bolts (6, 7) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, roll bar unit to Vario roof crossmember *BA91.50-P-1009-01A 
20 Connect electrical connector for left roll bar trigger solenoid (Y57/2) or right roll bar trigger solenoid (Y57/3)    
21 Install electric draft stop (1) Model 231
with code 285 (Draught stop)

22 Install vehicle interior paneling on roll bar   AR68.30-P-1380RK
23 Install right bracket (3)    
24 Install rear luggage box (4)   AR68.30-P-7440RK
25 Install right stowage box/tray (2)    
26 Install rear panel cover   AR68.30-P-4750RK
27 Install manual draft stop Model 231
except code 285 (Draught stop)
