| 1 | Open trunk lid | ||
| 2 | Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key (A8/1) or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) from electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) | ||
| 3 | Unclip left or right panel (30) at tubular frame upwards | ||
| 4 | Disconnect electrical connector at load assist switch (S114) | When removing left rear lamp unit (E3). | |
| 5 | Unscrew rear nut (1) at left rear lamp unit (E3) or right rear lamp unit (E4) | ||
| 6 | Detach left or right panel at side in trunk | Only if a threaded pin (2) is installed instead of a ball stud at front or center on left rear lamp unit (E3) or right rear lamp unit (E4). |

| 7 | Unscrew front or center nut at left rear lamp unit (E3) or right rear lamp unit (E4) | Only if a threaded pin (2) is installed instead of a ball stud at front or center on left rear lamp unit (E3) or right rear lamp unit (E4). | |

| 11 | Transfer threaded pin (2) at front or center into new left rear lamp unit (E3) or right rear lamp unit (E4) | When replacing left rear lamp unit (E3) or right rear lamp unit (E4) and only if a threaded pin (2) is installed instead of a ball stud at front or center in removed part. |
