	Remove/install
1	Remove position sensors of camshafts.	Position sensors of camshafts on right cylinder bank	AR15.12-P-2149MNL
		Position sensors of camshafts on left cylinder bank	AR15.12-P-2148MNL
		: Do not install upper engine cover until after the leak test.
2	Remove clamping device for the poly-V-belt of the alternator.		AR13.20-P-0010MNL
		: Install center and front engine compartment lining only after leak test has been performed.
3	Attach measuring tool (9) to bracket of tensioning device for poly-V-belt of alternator.		AR01.10-P-1000-01SZ
		Only turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation using the specified box wrench. Otherwise, damage to the engine or even failure of the engine may occur. Use pointer 177 589 01 21 01.

4	Continue turning engine at center bolt of crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until pointer of measuring tool (9) points to rib (18).	Only turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation using the specified box wrench. Otherwise, damage to the engine or even failure of the engine may occur. Rib (18) corresponds to 53° crank angle after top dead center of cylinder 1.	AR01.10-P-1000-01SZ

	Check
5	Check basic position of camshafts.	The edges (1a, 2a, 5a, 6a) of the partial segments of the segmented discs (1, 2, 5, 6) must be visible roughly in the middle in the openings of the position sensors of the camshafts. If the segmented discs (1, 2, 5, 6) are not standing centrally, ↓ Continue turning engine one complete revolution (360°) in direction of engine rotation until pointer of measuring tool (9) points to rib (18). If the segmented discs (1, 2, 5, 6) are still not standing centrally in the openings of the position sensors of the camshafts, ↓ Set basic position of camshafts.

6	Install in the reverse order.
	Finishing activity
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
7	Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness
