Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Potential risks 

Risk of injury 

If work is performed on the hot engine (> 60°C), e.g. oil change or oil level check, contact with the hot engine can cause serious burns and the handling of hot engine oil can lead to severe scalding.

Skin damage can occur due to contact of unprotected skin with engine oil.

Risk of poisoning 

Swallowing engine oil can cause poisoning symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, stomach aches, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps and unconsciousness.

Safety precautions/instructions 

• Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.
• Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

The following points should be observed if protective gloves cannot be worn:

• Keep contact of skin with engine oil to a minimum; clean affected skin with water and soap.
• Change moistened clothing as quickly as possible.

First aid measures 

• In the event of burns or scalding, rinse affected skin with large quantities of cold water and cover with sterile dressing.
• If a person has suffered severe burns or scalding or has swallowed engine oil, consult a physician.
• If engine oil gets into the eyes, rinse eyes immediately with copious amounts of clean water/eye rinse and consult an eye doctor.
