	Remove
1	Open engine hood and raise to vertical position	Model 166 with code U60 (Active Bonnet (Pedestrian protection)) If pedestrian protection was triggered ↓ Replace shear plates (2) and engine hood lifter (7) at both sides	AR88.40-P-1000GQ
		Remove/install engine hood lifter	AR91.60-P-0900GQ
2	Remove fragments of shear plate (1)
	Install
3	Paint new shear plates (2) before installation	Contact surface between inside and hinge and contact surface of bolt heads on the outside must be masked.
4	Push engine hood in direction of arrow until hinge is in basic position
5	Fit new shear plate (2) and tighten screws/bolts (3, 4) finger-tight	Ensure correct installation position of new shear plate (2). The installation side is marked.
6	Lower engine hood far enough for installation spring (5) to be hooked in without tension
7	Hook top of assembly spring (5) to new shear plate (2), and bottom of assembly spring behind the screw/bolt (6)
8	Move engine hood to upright position	Model 166 with code U60 (Active Bonnet (Pedestrian protection)) This generates the pretension that is required between the shear plate (2) and the hinge.	AR88.40-P-1000GQ
9	Tighten screws/bolts (3, 4)	Screw/bolt, shear plate to engine hood hinge	*BA91.60-P-1003-02A
10	Lower engine hood
11	Remove assembly spring (5)
12	Adjust colors of bolt heads of screws/bolts (3, 4)
	Check
13	Check gap dimension from engine hood to fender, adjust if necessary		AR88.40-P-3020GZ
