MODEL ALL (CAR) with CODE 401 (Climatised front seats)
Overview:
This document contains information on:
- General
- Function requirement
- Seat ventilation control, function
- Manual switch-on and switch-off, function
- Reduction of noise level on a stationary vehicle, function
- Actuation by other systems, function
General
The seat ventilation has the task of reducing the temperature of the seat cushion and/or seat backrest. The seat ventilation creates a more pleasant climate for vehicle occupants at high temperatures. The seat ventilation is carried out by centrifugal/axial fans integrated in the seats.
Function requirement
- Circuit 15 or circuit 15R ON
Seat ventilation control, function
Depending on the equipment installed, one of the following control units actuates the seat ventilation:
Overview of seat ventilation control
| Installed control units/position of seat heating | Driver seat ventilation | Front passenger seat ventilation |
| Without driver's seat control unit Without front passenger seat control unit |
Seat climate control control unit | Seat climate control control unit |
| With driver's seat control unit Without front passenger seat control unit |
Driver's seat control unit | Driver's seat control unit |
| With driver's seat control unit With front passenger seat control unit |

Manual switch-on and switch-off, function
The seat climate control switch group in the doors of the respective side of the vehicle records the operation signals over the seat ventilation button and transmits these to the control system.
The fan speed can set to 3 different levels. The fan motor of the radial fan operates at different power levels depending on the level activated (100 %/65 %/35 %).
The control system sends the stage setting of the seat ventilation back to the seat climate control switch group. This actuates the LEDs in the seat ventilation button accordingly.
The fan speed settings can be adjusted using the diagnosis tester.
Reduction of noise level on a stationary vehicle, function
In order to reduce the noise level of the seat ventilation when the vehicle is stationary, the seat ventilation is shifted down to level 1 if the vehicle speed drops below 6 km/h. As of 9 km/h, the originally selected stage is activated.
The noise level reduction does not become active until 7 minutes after the respective seat ventilation has been switched on for the first time with the engine running.
Actuation by other systems, function
For actuation by other systems, the function requirement for circuit 15 or 15R ON does not apply. With circuit 30t, the other systems can also activate the seat ventilation.
The seat ventilation can also be actuated by the following systems:
- Convenience feature
- Pre-air conditioning
- Revitalization
Convenience feature: If circuit 15R is not then switched on within 5 min, the seat ventilation switches off. The seat ventilation also switches off if the vehicle is locked.
