MODEL 166 up to model year 2016 without CODE 275 (Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)) without CODE P64 (Memory package) 

Function requirements, general 

• Circuit 30g On or run-on active
• No overvoltage or undervoltage

When circuit 30g is switched off, the power seats can still be adjusted for t = 180 s (run-on time). If, during the run-on time, the circuits status or the door status is changed, the run-on time starts again.

Electrical seat adjustment (ESA), general 

The ESA enables the electrical adjustment of the driver and front passenger seat. The driver and front passenger seat can be adjusted as follows:

• Seat fore/aft position (with CODE 560 (Left and right electrically adjustable driver seat))
• Backrest inclination
• Seat height
• Seat inclination

The ESA function comprises the following subfunctions:

• Function sequence for manual seat adjustment 
• Function sequence for overload protection 

Function sequence for manual seat adjustment 

The manual setting is made with each front switch group, seat adjustment. Operation of the front switch group, seat adjustment is read in over each front door LIN by the respective front door control unit. The respective front door control unit sends the adjustment requests via interior CAN, rear SAM control unit and center console switch LIN to the driver seat control unit or to the front passenger seat control unit. To adjust, hold down the switches in the front switch group, seat adjustment until the desired position is reached. The driver seat control unit or the front passenger seat control unit actuates the following motors directly depending on the request:

• Seat adjustment motor, seat fore/aft adjustment
• Seat adjustment motor, height adjustment
• Seat adjustment motor, inclination adjustment
• Seat adjustment motor, backrest inclination

Function sequence for overload protection 

The antilock device is implemented through a thermal fuse in the seat adjustment motors. As a result, if the seat adjustment motor is blocked, it is not switched off until exceeds a certain temperature threshold.
