Remove/Install Front Bumper - AR88.20-P-2000GQ

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Disconnect battery ground cable Model 166
with code U60 (Active Bonnet (Pedestrian protection))
AR54.10-P-0003GZ
2 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000GQ 
3 Remove cover (1)    
4 Remove expansion rivets (2) SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Figure
5 Detach left and right front section on fender liner in area of bumper   AR88.10-P-1310GQ 
    SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Figure
6 Unscrew bolt (5) on right and left inner fender flare Model 166.874  
7 Unscrew bolts from underfloor paneling on front bumper   AR61.30-P-1001GQ
8 Detach electrical connections (3) IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors (3) differs depending on the vehicle equipment.  
9 Unclip hose for AIRMATIC on right side Model 166
with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
 
10 Loosen left and right bolt (4a)    
11 Loosen left and right bolt (4b) Model 166.8  
12 Loosen left and right bolt (4c)    
13 Unhook bumper at sides and remove toward front REMOVAL NOTES
Carefully unhook front bumper.
Otherwise the retaining lugs on the front bumper can be damaged.
IMPORTANT Helper required.
 
14 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
15 Check front bumper pedestrian protection sensor Model 166
as of model year 2016
with code U60 (Active Bonnet (Pedestrian protection))

NOTES Notes on pedestrian protection sensor Check freely visible points for damage of any kind (cracks, holes, breakovers, etc.) when installed.

If damage is visible, always replace pedestrian sensor.
Remove/install pedestrian protection sensor

17 Switch on ignition and PARKTRONIC, engage reverse gear and release parking brake Model 166

IMPORTANT PARKTRONIC automatically performs a self-test and operational readiness is signaled via the warning indicator.
