Authorization Of Transmitter Key/Mobile Phone, Basic Function - GF80.20-P-1004A

MODEL ALL (CAR)

Overview

This document contains the following information:

General

Vehicle access and start enable are only allowed with a valid access authorization code.

The electronic ignition lock control unit checks the transmitter key or mobile phone authorization (vehicles with vehicle access and drive authorization via mobile phone). The mobile phone can functionally replace the transmitter key.

If the computation is valid, the electronic ignition lock control unit allows vehicle access and issues, if necessary, the start enable.

After authorization, the following among other things takes place:

Transmitter key authorization

The transmitter key authorization is started once the electronic ignition lock control unit receives a request to lock/unlock the vehicle or for start enable.

The transmitter key and electronic ignition lock control unit communicate with each other via antennas and exchange encrypted data. The transmitter key is authorized if the comparison of these data is defined as valid to the transmitter key.

Mobile phone authorization (vehicles with vehicle access and drive authorization via mobile phone)

The mobile phone authorization is started once the mobile phone is held to a door handle or placed in the stowage compartment in the center console envisaged for this purpose.

The mobile phone and electronic ignition lock control unit communicate with each other via the near-field communication (NFC) antenna at the left front door handle or in the stowage compartment in the center console. In this connection, the mobile phone and electronic ignition lock control unit exchange encrypted data. The mobile phone is authorized if the comparison of these data is defined as valid to the mobile phone.

The following requirements must be fulfilled for the use of the mobile phone as an electronic key:

IMPORTANT NFC describes an international transmission standard for wireless data exchange per radio frequency over short distances (few centimeters).

IMPORTANT In addition to the NFC-capable smartphone, a digital key sticker can also be used that can, for example, be affixed to a smartphone.

All functions of the digital key are then, as previously described, possible with this digital key sticker.
