Task
Central interface (gateway)
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) is connected to the vehicle's network architecture via the following CAN buses:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Diagnostic CAN (CAN D)
- User interface CAN (CAN HMI)
- Periphery CAN (CAN PER)
- Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
The electronic ignition lock control unit thus forms the interface for communication between different systems whose control units are connected to different CAN buses. In addition, the electronic ignition lock control unit transmits information for variant coding, e.g. the model series, major assembly version, and national version to the respective control units via the different CAN buses. They then perform part of their self-configuration.
Controlling functions
The electronic ignition lock control unit actuates the following functions:
- Central locking
- Drive authorization system
- KEYLESS-GO start
- KEYLESS-GO (vehicles with KEYLESS-GO)
- Steering lock
- Emergency path actuation for engaging transmission position P in the case of undervoltage (vehicles with automatic transmission)
In order to implement the functions, the electronic ignition lock control unit processes the following information:
- Signals from the transmitter key or the "Digital Vehicle Key on the Smartphone" (vehicles with vehicle access and drive authorization via mobile phone)
- Signals from the KEYLESS-GO antennae
- Signals from the sensors in the door handles (vehicles with KEYLESS-GO)
- Status of left front door (open/closed)
- Status of start/stop button
The electronic ignition lock control unit processes this information and transmits the following information and requests via the network architecture:
- Circuit status
- Central locking status
- Request to lock/unlock central locking system
- Request for the access authorization code for the drive authorization system
- Request for the steering lock
- Request to engage drive range P (vehicles with automatic transmission)
