Remove/Install Rear Door Module - AR72.12-P-0103LW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove door lining at rear door.   AR72.12-P-1010LW 
2 Remove feed-through grommet (2) from door module (1).    
3 Raise side window (3) via driver's side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group until screw (4) can be accessed through access opening in door module (1).    
4 Loosen screw (4). IMPORTANT Do not remove screw (4).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, window to window lifter *BA72.12-P-1006-01R 
5 Release side window (3) from window lifter, fully slide upwards and secure using suitable fabric tape (5).    
6 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).    
7 Release and disconnect left rear door electrical connector (X35/3) or right rear door electrical connector (X35/4) by pulling bracket at electric coupling (6).    
8 Remove lock tab (8) until catch hook (9) can be actuated. SPECIAL TOOL Extraction hook Fig 3
9 Press catch hook (9) with suitable screwdriver until electrical connector (7) can be released from inner door panel.    
10 Insert electrical connector (7) into rear door.    
11 Remove door handle (10).   AR72.12-P-2410LW 
12 Loosen screws (11).    
13 Slide bearing bracket (12) forward and detach from door paneling.    
14 Remove screws (13) at door lock. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, door lock to rear door *BA72.12-P-1005-01R 
15.1 Remove screws (14). When securing door module (1) via screws (14)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Repair stage 1:
If bolts (14) are stripped, they are to be replaced with bolts with a larger diameter available from EPC.
Repair stage 2:
If larger bolts are stripped, they are to be replaced with blind rivets available from EPC for mounting the door module (1).
 
15.2 Drill off rivet heads of blind rivets (15). When fastening door module (1) with blind rivets (15).
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Blind rivet tool
Drill bit with 7 mm diameter
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Fasten door module (1) with blind rivets (15) on front door.
 
16 Remove door module (1) from rear door. If door module (1) sticks to rear door.

17 Remove door module (1) from rear door. NOTES
Note bearing bracket (12) and door lock.
Otherwise they may be damaged.
 
18 Push out rivet residues at inner door panel. When fastening door module (1) with blind rivets (15).

19 Remove rivet residues and chipping fully from rear door. When fastening door module (1) with blind rivets (15).
NOTES
Remove rivet residues and shaving completely.
Otherwise remaining rivet residues can cause corrosion damage on rear door.
 
20 Install in the reverse order
