Remove/install the suspension strut - AR32.25-P-1017NKB

MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246

DANGER Risk of injury  due to fan starting unexpectedly Do not reach into the rotation or hazard area of the fan. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. AS20.40-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  . Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
1 Open engine hood and secure against falling down    
2 Remove seal (10) Model 242, 246  
3 Remove left wiper arm (7) Model 242, 246
When removing the left suspension strut (1).

4 Remove right or left covering (8a or 8b) Model 242, 246  
5 Remove inner covering (9) Model 242, 246  
6 Detach front wheel and tire assembly    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP40.10-P-4050AK
7 Detach torsion bar linkage (4) from suspension strut (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, connecting rod to spring strut *BA32.20-P-1003-02K 
8 Unscrew nuts (5) and pull bolts out of suspension strut (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, suspension strut to steering knuckle *BA32.25-P-1003-04J 
9 Detach bracket (3) from suspension strut (1)    
10 Press suspension strut (1) out of steering knuckle (2)    
11 Secure suspension strut (1) against falling down    
12 Detach electrical connection from suspension strut (1) Model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246
with code 459 (Steel suspension with adjustable damping)
 
13 Unscrew bolts (6) and remove suspension strut (1) INSTALLATION NOTES
Ensure that positioning shackles of the strut bearing do not come into contact with the suspension strut tower.
Otherwise, the suspension strut tower will be damaged.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, suspension strut to spring tower *BA32.25-P-1002-04J 
INSPECT Check     
14 Check suspension strut (1) for damage IMPORTANT The suspension strut (1) should be replaced in the event of damage.  
15 Install in the reverse order    
16 Perform wheel alignment check   AR40.20-P-0200NKB
