DANGER Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Disconnect ground line (1) from on-board electrical system battery (G1)   AR54.10-P-0003NKB 
2 Remove positive terminal cover (5)    
3.1 Remove starter series relay (K92) MODEL 117, 156, 176, 246
with CODE 4U7 (Start/stop voltage dip protector)
MODEL 242 with ENGINE 270
with CODE 4U7 (Start/stop voltage dip protector)

3.2 Slacken nut (8) and remove positive line (3) from on-board electrical system battery (G1) MODEL 117, 156, 176, 246
without CODE 4U7 (Start/stop voltage dip protector)
MODEL 242 with ENGINE 270
without CODE 4U7 (Start/stop voltage dip protector)
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, battery cable to negative terminal/positive terminal of on-board electrical system battery *BA54.10-P-1007-01I 
4 Remove vent hose (2) from on-board electrical system battery (G1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the vent hose (2) is routed without kinks.  
5 Move positive line (3) out of battery box in direction of arrow (arrow A) and place to one side    
6 Move vent hose (2) out of battery box in direction of arrow (arrow A) and place to one side    
7 Remove cover (4) of on-board electrical system battery (G1) MODEL 117, 156, 176, 246
MODEL 242 with ENGINE 270
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The cover (4) must engage in the guides (arrow B and C).
 
8 Unscrew bolt (6) and remove bracket (7) of on-board electrical system battery (G1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Before tightening the bolt (6), push the on-board electrical system battery (G1) as far as it will go in the direction of the arrow (arrow D).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, mounting rail to battery frame *BA54.10-P-1003-01I 
9 Remove on-board electrical system battery (G1)    
10 Install in the reverse order
