Perform Basic Setting Of Coil-Spring Suspension - AR32.25-P-0003RG

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by pinching or crushing when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension Use only approved tensioning devices; additionally screen off hazardous area if necessary. Check special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves. AS00.00-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove wheel and tire assemblies.   AR40.10-P-1100RQ
2 Clamp corresponding spring (1). IMPORTANT The lower spring retainer (2) must turn freely.

    SPECIAL TOOL Clamping plates Fig 2
3.1 Turn lower spring retainer (2) and locking ring (3) until adjustment dimension (arrows) of 3 mm between locking ring (3) and retaining ring (4) is reached. Model 190 with code M030 (GT R version) except code 835 (South Korea version)

with code M032 (Black Series version)
 
    NOTES
The retaining ring (4) must be firmly seated and the shear-off screw (5) must be present, and may not be replaced.
Otherwise, a correct basic setting of the coil-over suspension is not possible.
 
3.2 Turn lower spring retainer (2) and locking ring (3) until adjustment dimension (arrows) of 7.5 mm between locking ring (3) and retaining ring (4) is reached. Model 190 with code 835 (South Korea version) with code M030 (GT R version)
When performing basic setting on front axle.
 
    NOTES
The retaining ring (4) must be firmly seated and the shear-off screw (5) must be present, and may not be replaced.
Otherwise, a correct basic setting of the coil-over suspension is not possible.
 
3.3 Turn lower spring retainer (2) and locking ring (3) until adjustment dimension (arrows) of 9 mm between locking ring (3) and retaining ring (4) is reached. Model 190 with code 835 (South Korea version) with code M030 (GT R version)
When performing basic setting on rear axle.
 
    NOTES
The retaining ring (4) must be firmly seated and the shear-off screw (5) must be present, and may not be replaced.
Otherwise, a correct basic setting of the coil-over suspension is not possible.
 
4 Secure lower spring retainer (2) and locking ring (3). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 190 with code 479 (Adjustable chassis) with code M032 (Black Series version)
Model 190 with code 479 (AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension) with code M030 (GT R version)
Counternut, lower spring retainer to suspension strut

INSTALLING Install     
5 Position spring (1). IMPORTANT Position white color coding on second coil in center relative to rubber joint.
For springs (1) without color coding, position start of spring in center relative to rubber joint.
 
6 Release corresponding spring (1). SPECIAL TOOL Tensioning device Fig 3
    SPECIAL TOOL Clamping plates Fig 2
7 Attach wheel and tire assemblies.   AR40.10-P-1100RQ
