The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the circuit status of circuit 15 to the instrument cluster (A1) via the suspension CAN 1 (CAN E1), the AMG gateway control unit (N93/9) and the user interface CAN (CAN HMI).
Active Service System PLUS (ASSYST PLUS), general
ASSYST PLUS is integrated as a software solution in the instrument cluster and determines corresponding service dates depending on the usage conditions of the vehicle.
The multifunction display (A1 p13) of the instrument cluster either shows the remaining time or distance until the service due and its scope.
The driver or service personnel are also provided with an overview of what service work needs to be carried out on the vehicle (service scope). ASSYST PLUS takes into account the time and distance-dependent additional operations in accordance with the vehicle equipment.
ASSYST PLUS comprises the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for determining the remaining distance
- Function sequence for determining the remaining time
- Function sequence for evaluating data
- Function sequence for service indicator
- Function sequence for service interval reset
Function sequence for determining the remaining distance
The remaining distance is calculated from the difference of the data stored regarding the maintenance interval and the travel distance covered since the last service. The travel distance is calculated based on the wheel speeds. The remaining distance is the primary decisive factor for the service indicator if it will be reached before the remaining time.
The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) sends information on the wheel speeds via the chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1), AMG gateway control unit, and user interface CAN to the instrument cluster. The remaining distance to the next service is determined by means of the comparison to the travel distance reading that was reset and stored at the last service.
The service interval based on the remaining distance is permanently stored in ASSYST PLUS and it is, e.g. for the European countries currently, 25, 000 km for "Service A" or 50, 000 km for "Service B".
Function sequence for determining the remaining time
The remaining time is calculated from the difference of the data stored regarding the maintenance interval and the time that has lapsed since the last service. The remaining time is the primary decisive factor for the service indicator if the remaining time will be reached before the remaining distance.
The service interval based on the remaining time is permanently stored in the ASSYST PLUS and it is 12 months for "Service A" and 24 months for "Service B".
Function sequence for evaluating data
ASSYST PLUS evaluates the usage conditions of the vehicle and calculates the time and scope of the service work required. Engine-specific parameters such as e. g. the oil level and oil quality are also taken into account.
The ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) evaluates all engine-specific parameters and sends corresponding information to the instrument cluster via the engine CAN (CAN C), the powertrain control unit (N127), suspension CAN1, the AMG gateway control unit, and the user interface CAN.
Function sequence for service indicator
The following notes with service code can be shown in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster:
- Service XX in XX days
- Service XX in XXXX km/miles
- Carry out service XX
In the event that the service date was exceeded, the following messages are shown:
- Service XX has been due for XX days
- Service XX has been due for XXXX km/miles
The display of the service due date is shown rounded to 100 km or 100 miles or to the specific day. The two-digit service code provides information on the scope of the service operations to be carried out. The service scope is shown as a service code (e. g. "A1"). The letter denotes the service scope, and the following digit or letter provides the workshop with information about additional operations. This enables the workshop to already provide the customer with the most precise specifications possible on the time expenditure and expense of the due service when the appointment is made.
Function sequence for service interval reset
As of 01.12.2018:
The service interval can be reset via the instrument cluster finger navigation pad (S163/1s10) in the instrument cluster multifunction steering wheel button group (S163/1). The request is read in by the steering wheel electronics (N135) and transmitted via the steering wheel CAN (CAN LR) to the steering column tube module control unit (N80). The steering column tube module control unit sends this request to the instrument cluster via the AMG FlexRay, the AMG gateway control unit and the user interface CAN. The instrument cluster shows the "Next Service" message. "Maintenance interval reset" appears in the instrument cluster if the instrument cluster finger navigation pad is pressed for more than t = 3 s.
The service interval is reset.
Up to 30.11.2018:
Pressing the OK button (S110s6) in the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) resets the service.
The steering wheel electronics reads in the status of the O.K. button directly and sends it to the steering column tube module control unit via the steering LIN (LIN E1). The steering column tube module control unit sends the status of the OK button via the chassis CAN 1, AMG gateway control unit, and user interface CAN to the instrument cluster. The message "Next service" appears in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster. If the OK button is pressed for longer than t = 3 s, the "Reset maintenance interval" message is shown. The service interval is reset.
Should an exchange of the instrument cluster become necessary, the current service data must be entered manually. The following parameters are required for this:
- Current kilometer reading/mileage reading
- Current date
- Kilometer reading/mileage reading when last oil change took place (from service booklet)
- Date of the last oil change (from service booklet)
- Calculation data of ASSYST PLUS
