Function requirements for video operation in general
- Status of circuit 30 g ON
- Transport mode not active
- Video DVD in DVD drive of head unit
Video mode, general
The DVD drive of the head unit supports the playback of video DVDs The video image is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display depending on request and availability
The video function can be operated using the:
- Audio/COMAND control panel
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group and right multifunction steering wheel button group
- Voice control system (VCS [SBS])
- Touchpad
The picture signals are transmitted in the head unit to the controller unit via a separate video line by the DVD drive The head unit transmits the picture signals via a LVDS line to the Audio/COMAND display.
The volume for the soundtrack of the video source can be adjusted using the ON/OFF button with volume control
Audio is output depending on the equipment variant:
- On vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system) and except CODE 811 Advanced sound system) the head unit output the audio signals via the speaker system
- On vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system) the audio signals are fowarded via he Media O sound system amplifier via direct lines to the speaker system
- On vehicles with CODE 811 (Advanced sound system) the audio signals are forwarded via MOST to the Advanced sound system amplifier control
Function sequence for video mode
The Audio/COMAND control panel transmits the control signals via telematics CAN to the head unit. The touchpad sends the control signals over the telematics CAN to the head unit.
The control signals of the left multifunction steering wheel button group and right multifunction steering wheel button group are forwarded to the head unit via the following route:
- Steering wheel electronics
- Steering LIN
- Steering column module control unit
- Chassis CAN 1
- AMG gateway control unit
- User interface CAN
- Instrument cluster
- User interface CAN
The voice commands for the voice control system are converted into electric signals by the driver hands-free system microphone and front passenger hands-free system microphone and forwarded to the head unit.
