Remove/Install ETS/ASR/ESP (R) Hydraulic Unit - AR42.40-P-0816RG

CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A 
DANGER Risk of death  caused by limbs being caught or crushed by rotating parts when performing tests on the brake test stand Never leave the vehicle unattended on the rollers except in an emergency. Ensure that no one is under the vehicle or near rotating parts during testing. In case of emergency, use the EMERGENCY OFF switch to shut down test stand. AS42.00-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open engine hood, move to upright position and close   AR88.40-P-1000RG
2 Switch off ignition, remove transmitter key if necessary and place transmitter key down outside of KEYLESS-GO transmission range    
3 Detach electrical connection (1) from ESP control unit® (N30/4)   AR42.45-P-0820-02RG 
4 Mark brake lines (2, 3) relative to corresponding connection on traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3)    
5 Detach brake lines (2, 3) from traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) NOTES
Immediately seal brake lines and connections on traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3). The ingress of foreign objects will lead to damage to the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).
 
    NOTES
Collect brake fluid which runs out with an absorbent rag.
Otherwise the vehicle paint may be damaged.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Retaining screw, brake line to hydraulic unit *BA42.10-P-1004-04M 
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
6 Remove traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) out of rubber plugs upwards IMPORTANT Check rubber plugs fro damage and correct seat and replace if necessary.  
7 Install in the reverse order    
CLEAN Clean     
8 Clean traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) in area of connections for brake lines (2, 3)    
INSPECT Check     
9 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010RG 
10 Update software for control unit (N30/4) using STAR DIAGNOSIS    
11 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS, read out fault memory and erase if necessary    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
12 Carry out brake test on the test stand    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.00-P-4290BA
