- Punch rest of rivet (40) with a suitable tool (41) in center supporting bow (10).
When punching rest of rivet (40), a helper must counter this - as shown - with a suitable tool (42) and a cloth positioned underneath this
Otherwise the center of the supporting bow (10) can be damaged.
- Remove rest of rivet (40) using compressed air from center supporting bow (10).
Otherwise the rivet residues (40) and chips in the center of the supporting bow (10) can cause noises while driving.
- Remove tape residues from rear supporting bow (9) and center supporting bow (10) and clean bonding surfaces
Otherwise, the permanent strength of the adhesively bonded connection on the soft top canvas is not ensured.
- Mark position of old tape strips (27, 28) on soft top bow (18).
Otherwise the surface finish on the magnesium soft top bow (18) can be damaged resulting in corrosion.
- Remove old tape strips (27, 28).
- Remove aluminum tape strips (43)
Only if aluminum tape strips (43) are visibly damaged.
- Clean bonding surfaces on soft top bow (18)
Otherwise, the adhesion of the new tape strips (27, 28) and aluminum tape strips (43) is not ensured.
- Affix aluminum tape strips (43), as shown, on soft top bow (18) in a wrinkle-free manner and smoothen with a smooth object.
Only if aluminum tape strips (43) were damaged.
Otherwise the holes (45) can leave visible marks through the soft top canvas.
- Affix tape strips (28) in a bubble-free manner on soft top bow (18).
Helper required.
- Affix tape strips (27) in a bubble-free manner on soft top bow (18).
- Cut off protruding material of tape strips (27, 28) at circumference of soft top bow (18) with a suitable tool.
Otherwise the surface finish on the magnesium soft top bow (18) can be damaged resulting in corrosion.
