Adjust Header Bow - AR77.33-P-1023RGR

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

WARNING Risk of injury.  Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
INSPECT Check     
1 Fully open soft top IMPORTANT Front header bow (1) and rear header bow (2) must be fully closed.  
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
3 Check transition (A) IMPORTANT Front header bow (1) and rear header bow (2) must be aligned flush with each other.  
4 Check transitions (B) IMPORTANT Front header bow (1) must be flush with side trim (3).  
5 Check gap dimensions (C) IMPORTANT Gap dimensions (C) must be same size all round.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
6 Switch on ignition    
7 Fully tilt up front header bow (1) and rear header bow (2) by actuating soft top control switch    
8 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
9 Check position of left and right front header bow (1) to respective roll bar IMPORTANT The distance between front header bow (1) and roll bar must be min. 1 to 2 mm.  
  Adjust transitions (A, B)     
10 Fully cover B-pillar under working area with a suitable protective cover IMPORTANT It is thus prevented that parts can fall into the vehicle.  
11 Detach counternut (8)    
12 Detach ball head (9)    
13 Adjust transitions (A, B) by turning ball head (9) on threaded rod (10)    
14 Attach ball head (9)    
15 Tighten counternut (8)    
16 Switch on ignition    
17 To check the transitions (A, B), close front header bow (1) and rear header bow (2) by actuating soft top control switch    
18 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
  Adjust gap dimensions (C)     
19 Mark installation position of rear header bow (2) on setting screws of rear header bow (7) and screw for rear header bow (4) NOTES Use a water-soluble pen.
Markings that cannot be removed remain subsequently visible.
IMPORTANT To facilitate the adjustment procedure.
 
20 Mark installation position of front header bow (1) on setting screws of front header bow (6) and screw for front header bow (5) NOTES Use a water-soluble pen.
Markings that cannot be removed remain subsequently visible.
IMPORTANT To facilitate the adjustment procedure.
 
21 Detach setting screws of front header bow (6) and screw for front header bow (5)    
22 Adjust gap dimensions (C) by moving front header bow (1) IMPORTANT Gap dimensions (C) must be same size all round.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
23 Tighten setting screws of front header bow (6) and screw for front header bow (5)    
24 Switch on ignition    
25 To check the gap dimensions (C), close front header bow (1) by actuating soft top control switch SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
26 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
27 Detach setting screws of rear header bow (7) and screw for rear header bow (4)    
28 Adjust gap dimensions (C) by moving rear header bow (2) IMPORTANT Gap dimensions (C) must be same size all round.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
29 Tighten setting screws of rear header bow (7) and screw for rear header bow (4)    
30 Switch on ignition    
31 To check gap dimensions (C), close rear header bow (2) by actuating soft top control switch    
32 Then check all settings, where req. correct settings
