Location 

The soft top control control unit is located on the crossmember of the rear wall of the passenger head restraint below the cover.

Tasks 

The soft top control control unit has the following tasks:

• Reading in of sensors and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Actuation of components 
• Transmitting signals 

Reading in of sensors and signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

• Direct lines 
• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Direct lines 

The soft top control control unit reads in the signals from the following components via direct lines:

• Soft top actuation switch (N70/3s12)
• Left soft top locked sensor (S69/2)
• Right soft top locked sensor (S69/3)
• Soft top open sensor (S84/3)
• Soft top closed sensor (S84/4)
• Lock actuator open sensor (S84/7)
• Lock actuator closed sensor (S84/8)
• Left side flap open sensor (S84/12)
• Left side flap closed sensor (S84/14)
• Sensor, soft top stowed and locked (S84/24)
• Right side flap open sensor (S84/26)
• Right side flap closed sensor (S84/27)
• Soft top hydraulic unit temperature sensor (A7/5b1) in soft top hydraulic unit (A7/5)

Interior CAN 

The soft top control control unit also reads in the following signals via interior CAN:

• Terminal status of terminal 15
• Central locking status
• Engine running status
• Convenience feature request
• Energy management status

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components 

The soft top control control unit actuates the following components via direct lines:

• Soft top control hydraulic unit electric motor (A7/5m1) in soft top hydraulic unit
• Left side flap drive electric motor (M28/15)
• Lock actuator drive electric motor (M28/16)
• Right side flap drive electric motor (M28/17)
• Triggering temperature protection overload in soft top control hydraulic unit

Transmitting signals 

The soft top control control unit also sends signals over the interior CAN:

• Soft top status
• Display request message
• Request to lower side window
