Remove/Install Camber Strut - AR35.20-P-0110GZ

REMOVING Remove     
1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100GZ
2 Detach rear complete wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 164 AP40.10-P-4050Z
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 166 AP40.10-P-4050EW
    Model 292 AR40.10-P-1100GQC
3 Unclip line for rpm sensor (12) from bracket (3)    
4 Unclip bracket (3) and pull out of camber strut (1) (arrows B)    
5 Remove line for parking brake (13) from bracket    
6 Using a colored pencil, mark position of eccentric disk (5) relative to rear axle carrier (arrow C)    
7 Remove bolt (6)    
8 Remove screw/bolt (10)    
9 Detach brake hose clip (8) Model 164  
10 Remove camber strut (1)    
INSPECT Check     
11 Check elastomer bearing of camber strut (1) IMPORTANT Check for wear and damage; replace if necessary.  
12 Check surface of aluminum parts of rear axle for scratches, incipient cracks and notches NOTES While working on the rear axle, care must be taken to ensure that the surface of aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches.
Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced.
 
INSTALLING Install     
13 Insert camber strut (1) IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.  
14   If bolt length is > 65 mm ↓
Replace bolt (6)
 
15 Insert bolt (6) with eccentric disk (5) and loosely position new self-locking nut (4) IMPORTANT The screw head points the direction of travel. Align the eccentric disk (5) with the marking.  
16 Insert screw (10) with dog bone washer (7) and loosely position new self-locking nut (9) IMPORTANT The bolt head must face the vehicle front.  
17 Mount brake hose clip (8) as shown Model 164

18 Mount line for parking brake (13) as shown Model 166, 292  
19 Raise wheel suspension at supporting joint to driving level    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Mounting plate   WS26.00-P-3309B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
    IMPORTANT To move the elastomer bearings for the suspension into the neutral position.  
20 Tighten self-locking nut (9) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, camber strut to wheel carrier *BA35.20-P-1002-02F 
21 Tighten self-locking nut (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, camber strut to rear axle carrier *BA35.20-P-1001-02F 
22 Lower wheel suspension    
23 Attach holder (3) to camber strut (1)    
24 Mount line for rpm sensor (12) to bracket (3)    
25 Mount rear complete wheel

26 Remove vehicle lift safety device and lower vehicle   AR00.60-P-0100GZ
27 Perform wheel alignment check Model 164 AR40.20-P-0200GZ
    Model 166, 292 AR40.20-P-0200GQ
