The DVD changer is integrated in the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) and contains a magazine for up to six CDs or DVDs. The DVD changer enables the following function sequences to be performed:

Load CD or DVD function sequence

When the load button is pressed on the COMAND controller unit, the "Magazine menu" appears on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8). The required DVD slot can be selected by turning or pressing on the Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) to the left or right. Selection is confirmed by pressing vertically onto the Audio/COMAND control panel. The DVD slot can also be selected via the keypad (1 to 6) on the COMAND controller unit.

A CD or DVD must not be inserted until the corresponding request to do so appears on the Audio/COMAND display, e.g. "Please insert Disc 2". After inserting the CD or DVD, the Audio/COMAND display shows a message, e.g. "Disc 2 loading...".

IMPORTANT The duration of the loading process can vary depending on the type of data storage device involved.

Once the CD or DVD is loaded, the display changes back to the "Cartridge menu". If no CD or DVD is inserted, the display also changes back to "Magazine menu" after approx. 20 s. A loaded CD or DVD is shown in the "Cartridge menu".

The "Fill up empty spaces" menu enables several CDs or DVDs to be loaded one after the other. A CD or DVD may not be inserted until the corresponding request to do so appears on the Audio/COMAND display, e.g. "Please insert Disc 3". The COMAND controller unit now loads the empty DVD slots one after the other.

The data exchange between the COMAND controller unit, the Audio/COMAND display and the Audio/COMAND control panel takes place via telematics CAN (CAN A). The COMAND controller unit transmits the video signals for the displays to the Audio/COMAND display via a LVDS line (low voltage differential signaling).

Eject CD or DVD function sequence

When the load button on the COMAND controller unit is pressed, the "Magazine menu" appears on the Audio/COMAND display showing the previously selected DVD slot in the DVD changer. The desired DVD slot can be selected by turning or pressing the controls on the Audio/COMAND control panel to the left or right. Selection is confirmed by pressing vertically onto the Audio/COMAND control panel. The DVD slot can also be selected via the keypad (1 to 6) on the COMAND controller unit.

While the CD or DVD is ejected, a message appears in the Audio/COMAND display (e.g. "Disc 2 being ejected..."). As soon as the CD or DVD appears in the DVD drive slot, an appropriate message is shown (e.g. "Please remove disc 2").

Once the CD or DVD is removed, the display changes back to the "Cartridge menu". If the CD or DVD is not removed, the CD or DVD is loaded again.

The "Eject all" menu enables all the loaded CDs or DVDs to be removed one after the other. As soon as the CD or DVD appears in the DVD drive slot, a corresponding message appears (e.g. "Please remove disc 3"). Once the CD or DVD has been removed from the DVD drive slot, the next CD or DVD is ejected until the DVD magazine is empty. An ejected CD or DVD is shown in the "Cartridge menu" as an empty DVD slot.

IMPORTANT The ejection procedure can be stopped at any time by pressing the load button on the COMAND controller unit or the "Back" button (A40/9s2) of the Audio/COMAND control panel.
