Remove/Install Rear Panoramic Glass Roof - AR77.21-P-0600GQ

Model 166 with code 413 (Automatic panoramic sliding sunroof)

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
Notes on removal/installation of bonded elements of panoramic roof   AH77.21-P-0001-01A 
  Preparation     
1 Prepare adhesive cartridge.   AR77.21-P-1000-01A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 4
REMOVING Remove     
2 Lower side window of driver's door. NOTES The side window of the driver's door must be lowered.
Otherwise, the stationary element (1) may be pressed outward by the air pressure if the doors are closed during the curing time.
 
3 Determine height and gap dimension of the stationary element (1) relative to the roof paneling (3) and note. SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 2
4 Move front panoramic sliding sunroof (2) into tilt position.    
5 Remove left and right roof railing.   AR77.40-P-5000GZ 
6 Remove left and right drip rail.    
7 Cut off plastic frame of the stationary element (1) in the vehicle interior with a suitable knife.    
8 Cover roof paneling (3) on both sides. SPECIAL TOOL Set of shields Fig 3
9 Remove roller sunblind from front panoramic sliding sunroof (2).   AR77.21-P-0215EW 
WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A 
10 Insert cutting wire through the adhesive bead of the stationary element (1) using a pull-in device. NOTES When inserting the cutting wire, ensure that the cutting wire makes contact with the stationary element (1).
Otherwise, the plastic frame (4) will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Position pull-in device approx. 25 cm from the rear corner of the stationary element (1).
 
11 Remove shields from roof paneling (3).    
12 Attach suction lifters to the outside of the stationary element (1).    
13 Cut out stationary element (1) using cutting wire and remove with a helper. IMPORTANT The stationary element (1) cannot be removed in a non-destructive manner and, therefore, must usually be replaced.  
INSTALLING Install     
14 Prepare new stationary element (1) for installation.   AR77.21-P-0600-02SX 
15 Prepare panorama roof frame (6) for installation of the stationary element (1).   AR77.21-P-0600-05SX 
16 Close front panoramic sliding sunroof (2).    
17 Apply adhesive material to stationary element (1).   AR77.21-P-0600-03SX 
18 Install stationary element (1) in the panorama roof frame (6) with a helper.   AR77.21-P-0600-06SX 
    IMPORTANT After inserting and before aligning the stationary element (1), check the noted dimensions with a helper for aligning.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 2
19 Install roller sunblind on front panoramic sliding sunroof (2).   AR77.21-P-0215EW 
20 Install left and right drip rail.    
21 Install left and right roof railing.   AR77.40-P-5000GZ 
22 Raise side window of driver's door.    
CLEAN Clean     
23 Clean working area.
