	Remove

2	Remove cover over left suspension strut tower	Model 166, 292
	Preparatory tasks
3	Clean area surrounding cap on brake fluid reservoir
4	Unscrew cap on brake fluid reservoir and connect filling and bleeding unit

		Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.
5	Detach corresponding complete wheel

6	Remove bleed screw from brake caliper (2) on brake circuit to be checked and connect pressure tester (3)

		Pressure testers (3) for hydraulic fluid systems must not be used for systems with brake fluid. Otherwise, the brake fluid will be mixed with mineral oil. This results in brake failure. Follow the manufacturer's operating instructions in order to avoid measurement errors.
7	Bleed pressure tester (3)	Follow the manufacturer's operating instructions in order to avoid measurement errors.
8	Switch off filling and bleeding unit and vent pressure from brake fluid reservoir
	High-pressure test
	Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
9	Allow the engine to run at moderate speed and release the accelerator pedal suddenly	In order to produce as high a vacuum as possible in the brake booster.
10	Immediately press down brake pedal (5) as far as possible and insert brake pedal jack (4) with adapter (6) between brake pedal (5) and driver seat	Only use the brake pedal jack (4) in combination with the adapter (6) and attach as shown. Otherwise damage and measurement error can occur. Cover contact area of brake pedal (5) and driver's seat. Otherwise, the brake pedal (5) or the driver's seat may be damaged.

11	Read off and note brake pressure on high-pressure gauge of pressure tester (3)
12	Read off and note brake pressure again after 5 minutes on the high-pressure gauge of pressure tester (3)	During the 5 min. duration of the test, the brake pressure may not drop more than 5 %.
13	Switch off engine and remove brake pedal jack (4) with adapter (6)
14	Press brake pedal (5) several times	To reduce the pressure.
	Low-pressure test
15	Immediately press down brake pedal (5) as far as possible and insert brake pedal jack (4) with adapter (6) between brake pedal (5) and driver seat again	Only use the brake pedal jack (4) in combination with the adapter (6) and attach as shown. Otherwise damage and measurement error can occur.
16	Slowly turn back knob (1) until the low-pressure gauge on the pressure tester (3) displays a brake line pressure of 3 bar.
17	Read off brake line pressure again	2 min waiting time.
		The previously set brake line pressure must not fall throughout the 2 min. duration of the test.
	Concluding tasks
18	Remove brake pedal jack (4) and adapter (6)

20	Bleed brake system	Only bleed the brake caliper (2) to which the pressure tester (3) was connected.
