Remove/Install Wheels, Rotate If Necessary - AP40.10-P-4050EW

  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Lift vehicle on vehicle lift MODEL 166, 212, 218, 231  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   MODEL 166 AR00.60-P-1000GZ
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   MODEL 231 AR00.60-P-1000TX
2 Remove hubcaps Vehicles with hubcaps  
3 Unscrew wheel bolts and remove wheel-and-tire assemblies NOTES
For model 166 and vehicles with code (B07) Ceramic brake system, remove wheel-and-tire assembly using wheel lift only.
The brake disks and complete wheels can otherwise be damaged.
 
INSPECT Check     
4 Check tires for signs of damage and make sure that they are in good condition   AP40.10-P-4051EW 
INSTALLING Install     
5 Clean and check wheel bolt connection components, then protect against corrosion NOTES
Before mounting a wheel-and-tire assembly all the operation steps listed in the linked description must be conducted carefully.
The complete wheel can otherwise work its way loose from the vehicle.
AP40.10-P-4050-01A 
    Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20 *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
6 Change round wheel-and-tire assemblies on front and rear axles If necessary, subject to separate repair order and only for vehicles without mixed tires.
NOTES
Maintain running direction of wheel-and-tire assemblies.
Otherwise handling characteristics and handling comfort may be impaired and tire wear increased.
 
7 Mount wheel-and-tire assembly and tighten wheel bolts NOTES
For model 166 and vehicles with code (B07) Ceramic brake system, mount wheel-and-tire assembly using wheel lift only.
The brake disks and complete wheels can otherwise be damaged.
IMPORTANT Observe the tightening sequence (1 to 5) and tightening torque.

8 Lower vehicle    
9 Correct tire pressure of front and rear axle tires In the event of unusual tire pressure loss:

Determine and rectify cause, subject to separate repair order.

10 Mount hubcaps Vehicles with hubcaps
NOTES
Check for correct positioning of hubcap to valve and for correct seating.
Otherwise the valve will be damaged or the hubcap will be lost.

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR
Activate the tire pressure monitoring system Only vehicles with CODE 475 (Tire pressure monitor)  
IMPORTANT Only for wheel-and-tire assembly change, tire replacement or a change in tire pressure. AR54.30-P-1000-02RAU
