All-Wheel Drive Control Unit, Component Description - GF28.19-P-3211VGG
Model 463 with transmission 725.0
as of model year 2019
Shown on vehicle with transfer case
Location
The all-wheel drive control unit is attached on the left of the transfer case.
Task
The all-wheel drive control unit actuates the all-wheel drive actuator (N45m1) integrated into the all-wheel drive control unit. The all-wheel drive actuator then regulates the multiplate clutch to interaxle differential lock and activates or deactivates the off-road ratio.
A lock value of between 0 and 100 % is continually, electromechanically set via the multiplate clutch. With an open multiplate clutch (lock value 0 %) up to 40 % of the drive torque is distributed to the front axle. The distribution takes place via the longitudinal equalization with the aid of the differential. With a closed multiplate clutch (lock value 100 %), the differential is bridged. The drive axles are rigidly connected to each other and turn with the same speed. Control here is performed automatically and cannot be influenced by the driver. The interaxle differential lock can be activated or deactivated by the driver.
Messages in the instrument cluster (A1)
If case of faults in the system, messages to this effect will be displayed in the instrument cluster.
Control module programming
The all-wheel drive control unit is programmable, i.e. the complete software of the control unit can be exchanged (replaced). It is also possible to exchange the data separately. The software required for control unit programming is stored on the diagnosis software DVD.
Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
The all-wheel drive control unit is connected to the vehicle's network group via the suspension FlexRay and exchanges data with the other control units.
