Voice Control, Function - GF82.70-P-3020FG
Model 213 up to model year 2021 with code 357 (Map navigation) with code 506 (Audio 20 NTG 5.5 radio)
Model 213 up to model year 2021 with code 357 (Map navigation) with code 522 (Audio 20 radio)
Model 213 up to model year 2021 with code 531 (COMMAND APS)
Function requirements for voice control system, general
- Circuit 30t ON
- Transport mode not active
Voice control system, general
- Voice control ON and Favorites switch (as of 01.06.2018)
- Voice control system ON button (up to 31.05.2018)
The head unit multifunction steering wheel button group sends the control signal via the following route:
The voice control system (VCS) is integrated in the head unit. The voice control system recognizes coherent commands that can be spoken by any person (e. g.: "Navigate to MercedesstraBe 87 in Stuttgart"), without the need for teach-in. If the message of the voice command is not clearly identified, a query is made by the voice control system.
Various functions of the telematics can be operated with the voice control system on vehicles with code 531 (COMMAND APS) including, e.g., the following:
- Navigation mode
- Radio and other media sources (e.g. TV (with code 865 (TV tuner)))
- Telephony
From model year 2018, it will also be possible to operate certain vehicle functions, such as exterior lights control, climate control, the seat heater (with code 873 (Seat heater for driver and front passenger) or code 902 (Seat heater Plus for driver and front passenger) or code 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger) and the massage function (with code 432 (Left and right dynamic multicontour seat)).
On vehicles with code 357 (Map navigation), the voice control system is limited to operation of the navigation mode.
Voice control system function sequence
The voice control system is switched on and off at the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group via the following components:
Steering wheel electronics →
Steering wheel CAN (as of 01.06.2018) or steering LIN (up to 31.05.2018) →
Steering column tube module control unit →
Chassis FlexRay →
Electronic ignition lock control unit →
User interface CAN →
Head unit
Voice input takes place via the driver hands-free system microphone, which is connected to the head unit via a direct line. The words that are spoken are converted into an electrical signal by the driver handsfree system microphone and forwarded to the head unit. The head unit processes the signals internally and implements them accordingly.
The audio signals are generated by the head unit and output over the speaker system, on vehicles with code 810 (Sound system) via MOST and the sound system amplifier control unit, on vehicles with code 811 (Advanced sound system) via MOST and the Advanced sound system amplifier control unit.
On AMG vehicles as of 01.06.2018 except code 810 (Sound system) and except code 811 (Advanced Sound System), the head unit sends the audio signals via MOST to the Midline sound system amplifier control unit. The Midline sound system amplifier control unit amplifies the signals and forwards them to the speaker system.
