Information on touchpad 

The touchpad is installed in two variants.

Variant (with code 448 (Touchpad)): The touchpad is installed together with the Audio/COMMAND control panel. The touchpad is connected only to the telematics CAN.

Variant 2 (with code 446 (Touchpad only)): The touchpad is installed instead of the Audio/COMMAND control panel. In this case, the upper control panel control unit, the left lower control panel and right lower control panel are connected to the touchpad via UBF-LIN. The touchpad is also connected to the telematics CAN.

Function requirements, general 

TV mode 

The TV tuner control unit enables the reception of digital television programs. The program contents are shown in the audio/COMMAND display.

The head unit can be switched on using the "ON" button in the respective lower control panel. The lower control panel transmits the status of the "ON" button to the head unit via the LCP-LIN, Audio/COMMAND control panel (except code 446 (Touchpad only)) or touchpad (with code 446 (Touchpad only)) and telematics CAN.

Vehicles without CODE (498) Japan version 

The TV programs are received according to the Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T, DVB-T2) standard in the range from 470 to 700 MHz. In addition to the MPEG-2 video compression standard, MPEG-4 and MPEG-H (H.265) are also supported.

Encrypted programs can be received with a CI+ (Common Interface Plus) module.

The TV tuner control unit currently has the following functionalities:

IMPORTANT Video text function: Some stations, primarily in central Europe, also offer video text along with their TV programs. To this end, the TV tuner control unit is equipped with a separate video text decoder. Only video text broadcast with Latin ASCII characters are supported, i.e. Greek or Cyrillic characters are not supported.

With digital TV reception the "one-segment" substandard (TV standard for mobile telephony) is also supported in addition to the "full-segment" substandard.

The TV tuner control unit has the following functionalities:

The TV functions can be operated using the following controls:

Receipt of TV signals 

TV 1 signals are received via the rear window antenna (model 213.0/1) or the windshield antenna (model 213.2) and forwarded to the TV tuner control unit via the TV 1 and DAB band III antenna amplifier. TV 2 signals are received by the rear window antenna and forwarded to the TV tuner control unit via the TV 2 and DAB band III antenna amplifier (model 213.0/1) or the FM 2, DAB and TV 2 antenna amplifier (model 213.2).

TV 3 signals are received by the windshield antenna and forwarded to the TV tuner control unit via the TV 3 antenna amplifier. The TV tuner control unit processes the TV signals and separates the video signals from the audio signals.

Output of video signals 

The TV program contents are shown in the audio/COMMAND display The TV tuner control unit sends the video signals over MOST, head unit and the HSVL line to the audio/COMMAND display. The head unit also transmits control signals to the Audio/COMMAND display via the telematics CAN.

Audio signal output 

The audio signals are output via the speaker system. The TV tuner control unit sends the audio signals over MOST to the head unit. The head unit amplifies the audio signals and outputs them directly or sends them to one of the following devices via MOST:
