Function requirements for speaker output, general 

Speaker output, general 

A distinction is made between the following procedures:

IMPORTANT This document does not describe the speaker actuation in telematics services with voice connection (e.g. emergency call).

Speaker output in vehicles with code 811 (Advanced sound system) 

The audio signals, also from the TV tuner control unit (with code 865 (TV tuner) and code 531 (COMMAND APS)), are routed from the head unit via Media Oriented System Transport to the Advanced Sound System amplifier control unit where they undergo final amplification and are output over the following speakers via direct lines:

The advanced sound system amplifier control unit forwards the audio signals for the rear woofer to the rear woofer amplifier.

During actuation of the speaker system, the volume is adapted to the noise level in the vehicle interior. To this end, the head unit transmits the speed signal and the signals of the driver hands-free system microphone and the front passenger hands-free system microphone (interference recording) over the Media Oriented Systems Transport to the advanced sound system amplifier control unit.

Model 213 up to model year 2021 with code 362 (HERMES communications module LTE)

In telematics services with voice connection (e.g. emergency call), the center instrument panel midrange speaker is used for voice output and actuated via direct lines by the HERMES control unit (N112/9).

IMPORTANT Model 213 up to model year 2021 with code 811 (High-End sound system)

The left front door sound system tweeter and the right front door sound system tweeter are extended during operation by the respective left front door control unit (N69/1) or by the actuator motor actuated by the right front door control unit (N69/2) and illuminated when the ambiance illumination is switched on. Upon parking the vehicle, the left front door tweeter and right front door tweeter are retracted again and the lights are switched off.

Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system) 

The audio signals, also from the tuner unit (with code 522 (Audio 20 radio) and with code 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), with code 537 (Digital radio (DAB))) or from the TV tuner control unit (with code 865 (TV tuner) and code 531 (COMMAND APS)), are routed from the head unit via Media Oriented System Transport to the sound system amplifier control unit where they undergo final amplification and are output over the following speakers via direct lines:

The audio signals, also from the TV tuner control unit (with code 865 (TV tuner) and code 531 (COMMAND APS)), are routed from the head unit via Media Oriented System Transport to the Midline sound system amplifier control unit where they undergo final amplification and are output over the following speakers via direct lines:

In telematics services with voice connection (e.g. emergency call), the center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output and actuated via direct lines by the HERMES control unit.

Speaker actuation in the event of voice output 

During voice output (except code 360 (HERMES UMTS) and except code 362 (HERMES LTE)), the following speakers are actuated:
