- Lamp units in full LED version
(With CODE 631 (Static left-hand traffic LED headlamp) or CODE 632 (Static right-hand traffic LED headlamp))
(With code P35 (Light package))
Function requirements, general
- No undervoltage or overvoltage
Standing/parking lights, general
The standing lights/parking lights actuation is used to mark the parked vehicle when dark or in poor visibility.
The Standing/parking lights actuation is deactivated depending on the energy status with circuit 15R Off.
The standing/parking lights actuation is comprised of the following partial functions:
- Standing lamp actuation function sequence
- Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
- Parking lights actuation function sequence
Standing lamp actuation function sequence
Turning the exterior lights switch (S1) to the standing lights position requests actuation of the standing lights.
The front SAM control unit (N10/6) reads in the status of the exterior lights switch directly and transmits the "Standing light ON" request via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and in vehicles with the full LED version of the lamp units also via the interior CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the periphery CAN (CAN PER) to the left headlamp control unit (E1 n9) and the right headlamp control unit (E2n9).
In vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch), the front SAM control unit transmits the "Standing lights ON" request via the interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
At the same time, the front SAM control unit transmits the "Switch on standing light indicator lamp" request via the interior CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit and the user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster (A1), which then switches on the standing light indicator.
The standing light indicator is switched off with circuit 15R OFF and after a defined period if the vehicle has been locked from the outside, despite the function being active.
Vehicles with halogen version of lamp units:
The front SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Left position light and daytime running light (E1e27)
- Right position light and daytime running light (E2e27)
Vehicles with full LED version of lamp units:
The left headlamp control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Inner left position light and daytime running light (E1e28)
- Outer left position light and daytime running light (E1 e29)
- Left front side marker light (E1 e6) (with CODE 460 (Canada version) or CODE 494 (USA version))
The right headlamp control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Inner right position light and daytime running light (E2e28)
- Outer right position light and daytime running light (E2e29)
- Right front side marker light (E2e6) (with CODE 460 (Canada version) or CODE 494 (USA version))
The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Left rear lamp unit (E3):
- Left taillight and parking light (E3e2) (model 213.0/1 with halogen version lamp units)
- Upper left taillight (E3e25) (model 213.0/1 with lamp units in full LED version, model 213.2)
- Lower left taillight (E3e26) (model 213.0/1 with lamp units in full LED version, model 213.2)
- Right rear lamp unit (E4):
- Right taillight and parking light (E4e2) (model 213.0/1 with halogen version lamp units)
- Upper right taillight (E4e25) (model 213.0/1 with lamp units in full LED version, model 213.2)
- Lower right taillight (E4e26) (model 213.0/1 with lamp units in full LED version, model 213.2)
- Inner left rear lamp unit (E3/1) (model 213.2):
- Inner left taillight (E3/1e2),
- Inner right rear lamp unit (E4/1) (model 213.2):
- Inner right taillight (E4/1 e2)
- Left license plate lamp (E19/1)
- Right license plate lamp (E19/2)
On vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch), the trailer recognition control unit actuates the following components of the exterior lights on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58):
- Parking and taillights
- License plate lights
Additional function requirements for lights on reminder
- Standing lights ON
- Driver door OPEN
- Circuit 15C OFF
Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
The logic for requesting the lights on reminder function is stored in the front SAM control unit.
The left front door control unit (N69/1) sends the status of the driver door (open or closed) and the electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit. The front SAM control unit receives this information, uses it to generate the request to issue the light warning function, and it sends the "Warning tone ON" and "Instrument cluster message ON" requests via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN to the instrument cluster.
The instrument cluster then actuates the instrument cluster speaker (H4/61) directly. The message "Switch off lights" is shown on the instrument cluster.
Additional function requirements for parking lights actuation
- Circuit 15R OFF
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
Parking lights actuation function sequence
By turning the exterior lights switch to the left parking lights position or the right parking lights position, the parking lights actuation is requested for the corresponding side of vehicle.
The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch directly and transmits the "Parking light ON" request via the interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit and also in vehicles with the full LED version of the lamp units via the interior CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit and the periphery CAN to the respective headlamp control unit.
On vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch), the front SAM control unit also sends the "Parking lights ON" request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit.
Left parking light:
Vehicles with halogen version of lamp units:
The front SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Left position light and daytime running light
Vehicles with full LED version of lamp units:
The left headlamp control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Inner left position light and daytime running light
- Outer left position light and daytime running light
- Left front side marker light (with CODE 460 (Canada version) or CODE 494 (USA version))
The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Left taillight and parking light (model 213.0/1 with halogen version lamp units)
- Upper left taillight (model 213.0/1 with lamp units in full LED version, model 213.2)
- Lower left taillight (model 213.0/1 with lamp units in full LED version, model 213.2)
- Inner left taillight (model 213.2)
In vehicles with code 550 (Trailer hitch), the trailer recognition control unit actuates the left taillight via the trailer socket.
Right parking light:
Vehicles with halogen version of lamp units:
The front SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Right position light and daytime running light
Vehicles with full I ED version of lamp units:
The right headlamp control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Inner right position light and daytime running light
- Outer right position light and daytime running light
- Left front side marker light (with CODE 460 (Canada version) or CODE 494 (USA version))
The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Right taillight and parking light (model 213.0/1 with halogen version lamp units)
- Upper right taillight (model 213.0/1 with lamp units in full LED version, model 213.2)
