Headlight Switch Off Delay Function - GF82.10-P-2011FG

Model 213 up to model year 2021

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The head unit transmits the status of the "Ambient illumination" function via the user interface CAN (CAN HMI), the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit (N10/6).

The ambient brightness is detected by the light sensor in the rain/light sensor with additional functions. The rain/light sensor with additional functions reads in the signals of the light sensor directly, evaluates them and transmits information about the ambient light situation (dimness level) via the rain/light sensor LIN (LIN B16) to the front SAM control unit.

The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch directly.

Headlamp switch-off delay (SWA), general

The SWA is used for leaving and finding the vehicle safely in darkness.

IMPORTANT The duration of the SWA can be adjusted in the head unit to

IMPORTANT between 0 and 60 s in 15 second intervals.

The following light functions are activated here:

The SWA function is comprised of the following subfunctions:

IMPORTANT The ambient illumination and locator lighting functions operate in parallel if necessary. An active ambient illumination function is not aborted by a requested locator lighting function and vice versa.

Function sequence for ambient illumination (External OFF delay function)

The ambient illumination function is activated after the engine has been switched off by the driver (change in circuit status from circuit 15 ON to circuit 15R ON) for the configured period of time. The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The front SAM control unit then activates the standing/parking lights actuation.

In vehicles with code P49 (Mirror package) or code 889 (KEYLESS-GO), the front SAM control unit transmits the request to switch on the ambient illumination via the interior CAN to the following control units:

In ECE vehicles with code P35 (Light package), the front SAM control unit also transmits the request to switch on the ambient illumination via the interior CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit and the periphery CAN (CAN PER) to the following control units:

The left front door control unit actuates the left outside mirror ambient lamp (with CODE P49 (Mirror package)) and the left front door outer door handle illumination (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)).

The right front door control unit actuates the right outside mirror ambient lamp (with CODE P49 (Mirror package)) and the right front door outer door handle illumination (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)). The left rear door control unit actuates the left rear door outer door handle illumination (with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO)).

The right rear door control unit actuates the right rear door outer door handle illumination (with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO)).

The left headlamp control unit actuates the left front ambient light.

The right headlamp control unit actuates the right front ambient light.

IMPORTANT The ambient lights in the front lamp units light up for a period of 2 s in blue before turning to white.

IMPORTANT Opening a vehicle door, the trunk lid or the liftgate resets the timer and the function restarts, the same applies when all vehicle doors are closed again.

The front door control units transmit the status of the front doors via the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

The rear door control units transmit the status of the rear doors, and the rear SAM control unit (N10/8) transmits the status of the trunk lid or the liftgate via the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

The active ambient illumination function is aborted by switching on circuit 15 or triggering an anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) alarm (with CODE 551 (Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))).

Function sequence for AFB

When unlocking the vehicle, the AFB is switched on for a period of approx 40 s (time of automatic relocking).

The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of the central locking via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

In vehicles with code P49 (Mirror package) or code 889 (KEYLESS-GO), the front SAM control unit transmits the request to switch on the ambient illumination via the interior CAN to the following control units:

In ECE vehicles with code P35 (Light package), the front SAM control unit also transmits the request to switch on the ambient illumination via the interior CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit and the periphery CAN to the following control units:

IMPORTANT If the engine is started within 40 s, a change is made from locator lighting to the auto on/off driving lights function.
