MODEL 207.3/4 with CODE 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory) 

Location 

The front passenger seat control unit is located at the bottom of the front passenger seat frame.

Task 

The front passenger seat control unit is responsible for the following tasks:

• Reading in of sensors and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Controlling functions 
• Actuation of components 

Reading in of sensors and signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Direct line 

The front passenger seat control unit reads in the signals from the following components via direct lines:

• Seat fore/aft adjustment Hall sensor, front passenger seat (M28/1b1)
• Height adjustment Hall sensor, front passenger seat (M28/2b1)
• Front passenger seat inclination adjustment motor Hall sensor (M28/3b1)
• Head restraint adjustment Hall sensor, front passenger seat (M28/4b1)
• Backrest inclination Hall sensor, front passenger seat (M28/5b1)
• Right EASY-ENTRY system limit switch (S159/4)

The EASY-ENTRY system limit switch of two contact switches, backrest inclination switch contact switch and backrest release contact switch.

Interior CAN 

The front passenger seat control unit reads in, for example, the following signals over the interior CAN:

• Vehicle speed
• Requests for the PRE-SAFE positioning function
• Status of the right front seat adjustment switch group (S23)
• Status of the right front door rotary tumbler switch (A85/1s1)

On model 207.3 with code (287) Through-loading feature, the front passenger seat control unit reads in the following signals for control of the collision avoidance with the bench seat in the rear via interior CAN:

• Status of the left rear backrest inclination switch (S54/5)
• Status of the right rear backrest inclination switch (S54/6)
• Status of the left rear backrest lock switch (S54/7)
• Status of the right rear backrest lock switch (S54/8)

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors 

The read in input factors are evaluated by the front passenger seat control unit. The actuation of the motors for the seat adjustment takes place via integrated relays.

Controlling functions 

The front passenger seat control unit controls the following functions:

• Seat adjustment
• Storing and calling up memory settings for front passenger seat
• Head restraint presetting

• Rear easy entry (easy entry)
• Collision avoidance with bench seat in rear (on model 207.3 with code (287) Through-loading feature)
• Collision avoidance with draft stop (on model 207.4)
• Front passenger seat PRE-SAFE positioning function

Actuation of components 

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• Interior CAN 

Direct line 

The following motors are actuated via direct lines:

• Front passenger seat fore/aft adjustment motor (M28/1)
• Front passenger seat height adjustment motor (M28/2)
• Front passenger seat inclination adjustment motor (M28/3)
• Front passenger seat head restraint adjustment motor (M28/4)
• Front passenger seat backrest inclination adjustment motor (M28/5)

Interior CAN 

The front passenger seat control unit sends, e.g. the following signals over the interior CAN:

• Request to output an acknowledge tone
• Request to display warning messages

Variants 

There are no variants for the hardware of the front passenger seat control unit. The country or left-hand drive vehicle/right hand drive vehicle allocation is software coded.
