DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A

  Drain off     
1 Unscrew cap (2) on coolant expansion reservoir (4) IMPORTANT Unscrew cap (2) slowly and relieve overpressure.  
2 Remove lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105EW
  Drain coolant at radiator     
3 Push drain hose (3) onto left fitting (3a) on radiator (6)    
4 Unfasten drain screw (7) at radiator (6) and drain coolant NOTES
Remove drain screw (7) until coolant flows out. The drain screw (7) can be permanently damaged otherwise.
IMPORTANT Catch coolant in a suitable container.
IMPORTANT Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.
 
  Drain coolant from coolant pump (1)     
5 Detach charge air cooler at throttle valve actuator and at engine charge air ducts and place with attached lines to one side   AR09.41-P-6819ELS
6 Unfasten drain screw (5) at coolant pump (1) and push drain hose (3) on drain screw (5)    
7 Further loosen drain screw (5) and drain coolant IMPORTANT Catch coolant in a suitable container.
IMPORTANT Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.
 
  Pour in     
8 Tighten drain screw (7) on cooler (6) and detach drain hose (3) from fitting (3a)    
9 Tighten drain screw (5) at coolant pump (1) and detach drain hose (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Drain screw on coolant pump *BA20.10-P-1008-01AA 
10 Mount charge air cooler on throttle valve actuator and on engine charge air duct   AR09.41-P-6819ELS
11 Pour in coolant and ventilate engine cooling system

IMPORTANT Re-use clean coolant.

12 Check engine cooling system for leaktightness   AR20.00-P-1010ELA 
13 Install lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105EW
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14 Perform an engine test run and check engine cooling system for proper operation
