REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove left door sill molding    
2 Remove A-pillar paneling at bottom left    
3 Remove cover below left of instrument panel    
4 Remove accelerator pedal    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR30.12-P-1321CW
5 Remove left front floor covering    
6 Set selector lever in position "N" or gearshift lever to neutral position IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle equipment.  
7 Remove cover (7) of selector lever or gearshift lever SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Figure
8 Remove front stowage compartment or ashtray (6)    
9.1 Remove cover (5) Vehicles without CODE 301 (Ashtray package/smoker package)  
9.2 Remove rear ashtray Vehicles with CODE 301 (Ashtray package/smoker package)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.20-P-2230CW
10 Remove radio (A2), radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502EW 
11 Remove left side trim in rear passenger compartment    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.30-P-4780ED
12 Close soft top    
13 Remove front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and place to one side with electrical connectors attached    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.21-P-1260CW
14 Remove multifunction antenna mock-up or multifunction antenna (A28/11)   AN82.70-P-0008-08ECA
IMPORTANT The multifunction antenna mock-up or multifunction antenna (A28/11) is no longer required.  
15 Remove multifunction antenna antenna line (2) On vehicles with CODE 537 (Digital radio) or with CODE 511 (Audio 50 APS with DVD changer) or with CODE 525 (MB Audio 50 APS radio) or with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) or with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))

INSTALLING Install     
16 Install multifunction antenna (A28/11) for comfort telephony   AN82.62-P-0001-02ECA
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, antenna base to trunk lid *BA82.62-P-1002-01D 
17 Retrofit new multifunction antenna antenna line (2)   AN82.70-P-0008-07ECA
18 Prepare wiring harness for comfort telephony (1) for installation   AN82.70-P-0008-09ECA
19 Retrofit comfort telephony wiring harness (1)   AN82.70-P-0008-01ECA
20 Install front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.21-P-1260CW
21 Retrofit phone bracket (4) in center console (3)   AN82.70-P-0001-02EC
22 Assemble vehicle    
23 Connect Star Diagnosis    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
24 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card via vehicle documentation system (VeDoc) IMPORTANTAdd: 
  • CODE 386 (Comfort telephony)
 
25 Document retrofitted equipment via VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach the note "Comfort telephony retrofitted as per AN82.70-P-0008ECA " under field organization texts to design group 82.  
26 Perform retrofit variant coding IMPORTANT The following control units must be coded with XENTRY using software calibration number (SCN):
  • Instrument cluster
  • Radio (A2) (with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio) or CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer)) or
  • Radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) (with CODE 525 (MB Audio 50 APS radio) or CODE 511 (Audio 50 APS with DVD changer)) or
  • COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) or CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer))
 
27 Disconnect STAR DIAGNOSIS    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
28 Perform function test of comfort telephony
