The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
- Mark separating point on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut out (area A).
Transfer separation point from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on upper front longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on insides (area C).
Sand spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas B and C).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces on strut (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust.
