Function requirements in general
- Circuit 15R ON
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the status of circuit 15 via the user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster (A1).
Workshop level adjustments, general
The workshop level is used by technicians in the workshop for reading out vehicle and service data and provides assistance with carrying out the service.
The "Workshop level" menu is activated as follows for model 205 as of 01.06.2018, for model 253 (except model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019 or for model 253.99:
- Select the total distance in the menu "Journey".
- Press the "Accept/terminate phone call" button (S163/2s15) of the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group (S163/2) and simultaneously press the instrument cluster finger navigation pad (S163/1s10) of the instrument cluster multifunction steering wheel button group (S163/1).
The instrument cluster switches to workshop level. Via the instrument cluster finger navigation pad, it is possible to scroll between the respective menus and submenus or in different lists. The selection is made by pressing the instrument cluster finger navigation pad.
The request is read in by the steering wheel electronics (N135) and transmitted via the steering wheel CAN (CAN LR) to the steering column tube module control unit (N80). The steering column tube module control unit sends this request to the instrument cluster via chassis FlexRay (Flex E), electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN.
The "Workshop level" menu is activated as follows for model 205 up to 31.05.2018 or in model 253 (except model 253.99) up to 31.05.2019:
- Select the total distance in the menu "Journey".
- Press right button of accept and end phone call button (S111s3) then press the OK button. Press (S110s6) at same time for t > 3 s.
The instrument cluster switches to workshop level. The scroll forward/back button (S110s1) of the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) can be used to scroll between the respective menus and submenus and in various lists. Selection is then made by pressing the OK button.
The request is read in by the steering wheel electronics and sent over the steering LIN (LIN E1) to the steering column tube module control unit. The steering column tube module control unit sends this request via chassis FlexRay, the electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN to the instrument cluster.
The following menus are accessible:
- "Vehicle data" menu
- "Dynamometer test" menu
- "Change brake pad" menu
- "Head-up display" menu (with CODE 463 (Head-up display))
"Vehicle data" menu
The following data can be called up in the vehicle data menu:
- Voltage (in V) and amp draw (in A) in on-board electrical system
- Data from instrument cluster (e.g. version numbers, software releases)
Display for:
- Circuit 15R ON
- Irrespective of interlock circuit status
- Engine data (e.g. engine number)
- Vehicle identification number (VIN)
- High voltage status (hybrid vehicles)
- Terminal 15 ON
- Successful high voltage system power disconnect
- Interrupted interlock circuit (fault)
Display for:
- Circuit 15R ON
- Fault in high-voltage on-board electrical system
- Terminal 15 ON
- High voltage on-board electrical system operational (no faults)
- Unsuccessful high voltage system power disconnect
"Dynamometer test" menu
Activating the dynamometer test prevents faults being entered in the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) during the brake test on the roller dynamometer.
The following settings can be selected in the dynamometer menu:
- "On"
- "Off" with terminal 15 OFF
If the workshop menu is left and the menu "Dynamometer test" was not deactivated prior to this, it will be automatically called up during the next ignition cycle.
"Change brake pad" menu
In the "Change brake pad" menu, the following settings can be selected:
- "OK"
- "Move to assembly position"
"Head-up display" menu (with CODE 463 (Head-up display))
In the "Head-up display" menu, various parameter settings of the head-up display may be set.
