	Preparatory tasks
1	Check operation of headlamp range adjustment	For vehicle with headlamp range controller (6).	AP82.10-P-8250EW
2	Determine degree of inclination for main headlamps
	Notes on determining headlamp aiming values	The degree of inclination for the main headlamps is specified on the model plate on the B-pillar on the passenger side.	AH82.10-P-1005-01A
3	Park the vehicle on a horizontal, level surface	Maximum permissible height difference of surface for: Vehicle: ± 1 mm/m, Headlamp aimer (01): ±0.5 mm/m.
4	Align headlamp aimer (01)	It is essential to align the headlamp aimer (01) parallel to the front of the vehicle. The headlamp adjustment will otherwise be incorrect, which then may jeopardize the road safety of the vehicle! Align the headlamp aimer (01) at a distance (A) of approx. 30 cm in front of the left or right front lamp unit (E1) level with the left or right low beam headlamp (E1e2) parallel to the front of the vehicle. Other country-specific regulations or specifications in the operating instructions from the headlamp aiming device manufacturer must be observed accordingly.
5	Prepare vehicle for checking/correcting headlamp adjustment		AP82.10-P-8260-10C
6	Set specified degree of inclination for main headlamps at headlamp aimer (01)
7	Switch on low beam
	Check and, if necessary, adjust (checking and adjustment of the low beams is described at the left low beam headlamp (E1e2); the same procedure is used for the right side.)
8.1	Check height adjustment of left low beam headlamp (E1e2); adjust if necessary	For vehicle with steel suspension on front and rear axle. If, for a low beam light gradient, the height adjustment is correct, the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) in each case to the left of the center mark (3) must be congruent with the reference line for the height adjustment (2) in the headlamp aimer (01), as shown in the color image. The colored area of the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) must be above the reference line for the height adjustment (2), corresponding to the colored representation. If the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) is not correct: ↓ Turn the adjustment screw for the height adjustment (H) to correct the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2).
8.2	Check height adjustment of left low beam headlamp (E1e2); adjust if necessary	For vehicle with level control on front and rear axle. If, for a low beam light gradient, the height adjustment is correct, the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) in each case to the left of the center mark (3) must be congruent with the reference line for the height adjustment (2) in the headlamp aimer (01, as shown in the color image. The colored area of the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) must be above the reference line for the height adjustment (2), corresponding to the colored representation. If the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) is not correct: ↓ Move to calibrated vehicle level. Diagnosis → Control units view → Chassis → ADS - Adaptive Damping Systems Actuations → Move to calibrated vehicle level and check headlamp adjustment again.
		↓ Headlamp adjustment incorrect: ↓ Calibrate level in chassis control unit. Diagnosis → Control units view → Chassis → ADS - Adaptive Damping Systems Adaptations → Teach-in processes → Check level calibration and headlamp adjustment again.	AD00.00-P-2000-04B
		If the height adjustment of the left low beam (E1e2) is still incorrect after calibration of the vehicle level and the level calibration: ↓ Turn the adjustment screw for the height adjustment (H) to correct the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2).	AD00.00-P-2000-04B
9	Check lateral adjustment of left low beam headlamp (E1e2); adjust if necessary	If, for a low beam light gradient, the lateral adjustment is correct, the light-dark boundary (1) of the light gradient for the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) starting from the center mark (3) on the right must be congruent with the reference line for the lateral adjustment (4) in the headlamp aimer (01), as shown in the color image. The colored area of the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) must be above the reference line for the lateral adjustment (4), corresponding to the colored representation. If the lateral adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2) is not correct: ↓ Turn the adjustment screw for the lateral adjustment(s) to correct the lateral adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (E1e2).
	Concluding tasks
10	Reset switch positions to input condition	Only if the high beam setting is not to be checked afterwards.
