General telematics services function requirements

General telematics services

For convenient mobility planning in hybrid vehicles, the customer has the option of interrogating vehicle data and making settings via a vehicle-specific website, the "Vehicle Homepage". Position-dependent control and monitoring of the charging processes in particular are made possible by this. The "Vehicle Homepage" is made available by the service provider. The telematics services that can be performed via the "Vehicle Homepage" include the following functions, e. g.:

IMPORTANT A gradual expansion of the functional scope is planned.

The processing of the telematics services includes the following procedures:

Communication between vehicle and "Vehicle Homepage" via service provider

As soon as the user has successfully called up the "Vehicle Homepage", he/she can exchange data with the vehicle (e. g. call up information and make settings) via a mobile radio connection secured by the service provider.

On vehicles with code 360 (HERMES UMTS), the signals are sent and received via the following route:

Emergency call system antenna →

HERMES control unit

On vehicles with code 362 (HERMES LTE) the signals are also sent and received over the following path:

Left telephone antenna and right telephone antenna →

Telephone antenna splitter →

HERMES control unit

On vehicles with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system), the signals are received and sent as follows:

Left telephone antenna and right telephone antenna →

Telephone antenna splitter →

Emergency call system control unit

On vehicles with code B57 (COM module battery level), the signals are received and sent as follows:

Communications module/stationary heater antenna →

Communications module/stationary heater antenna splitter (with code B24 (Remote control for stationary heater)) →

Telematics services communication module

IMPORTANT

Model 205.047 with code 348 (Emergency call/assistant system)

In the event of failure or poor reception of the left and right telephone antenna (e. g. defect because of rollover), the emergency call system control unit automatically transmits and receives the signals via the emergency call system antenna.

CAN communication between the emergency call system control unit, the telematics services communications module or the HERMES control unit and other vehicle components

During the data exchange concerning the charging processes, the emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/Assist system)), the telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM MODULE battery level)) or the HERMES control unit (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE)) communicates with the powertrain control unit via the hybrid CAN.

During pre-entry climate control the emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/Assist system)), the telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM MODULE battery level)) or the HERMES control unit (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE)) exchanges data via the following route:

Hybrid CAN →

Powertrain control unit →

Suspension FlexRay →

Electronic ignition lock control unit →

Interior CAN →

Climate control, control unit

The settings undertaken using the "Vehicle Homepage", for which visualization via the instrument cluster is relevant, are transmitted via the following route:

Emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/Assist system)), telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM MODULE battery level)) or HERMES control unit (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE)) →

Hybrid CAN →

Powertrain control unit →

Suspension FlexRay →

Electronic ignition lock control unit →

User interface CAN →
