DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
AS20.00-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVING Remove
1 Remove engine cover
2 Remove lower front engine compartment paneling IMPORTANT Only remove center and front engine compartment paneling. AR61.20-P-1105RK
3 Unscrew cap (1) on low-temperature circuit coolant expansion reservoir (2) NOTES
Unscrew cap (1) slowly on low-temperature circuit coolant expansion reservoir (2) and reduce overpressure.
Scolding can occur otherwise through spitting out of hot coolant.

INSPECT Check
4 Check coolant level and antifreeze content coolant in low-temperature circuit IMPORTANT If antifreeze content of coolant is too low, either antifreeze protection must be added or the coolant must be replaced. AR09.41-P-6834RKC

7 Apply pressure to the low-temperature circuit NOTES
The specified test pressure must not be exceeded.
Damage can occur to the cooling system otherwise.

*BE20.30-P-1005-01A
8 Perform visual inspection on coolant carrying components NOTES
The catch springs for the Henn coupling must be checked for their condition and seat and replaced if necessary.
Coolant loss can occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Check condition and coolant loss for all coolant carrying components and connections. The coolant carrying components should be checked for inner leaktightness if there is no external coolant loss. There is, for example, the possibility that the coolant can also be suctioned over a defective charge air cooler and find its way into the combustion chamber.
