	Remove
1	Secure vehicle on vehicle lift.		AR00.60-P-0100CW
2	Support rear muffler (4) with major assembly mount and mounting plate.

3	Remove clamp (2).
4	Remove elastomer bearing (3) from rear muffler (4).
5	Remove elastomer bearing (5) from rear muffler (4).	Model 253 with engine 274.9, 276.8
6.1	Remove rear muffler (4) from center muffler (1).	Model 253 with engine 274.9 except code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system) Model 253 with engine 276.8
6.2	Remove rear muffler (4) from gasoline particulate filter (7).	Model 253 with engine 274.9 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system)
6.3	Remove rear muffler (4) from SCR catalytic converter (6).	Model 253 with engine 642, 651.9 with code U77 (Diesel Emission control BLUETEC (SCR))
7	Lower rear muffler (4) with major assembly mount and mounting plate and remove.
	000 588 10 62 00 Support plate		WS26.00-P-3309B
	000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount		WS01.00-P-0092B
		Helper required.
8	Remove combustion and corrosion residue at connecting points.
9	Check elastomer bearing (3) for damage.	If complaints are present, ↓ Replace elastomer bearing (3).
10	Check elastomer bearing (5) for damage.	Model 253 with engine 274.9, 276.8 If complaints are present, ↓ Replace elastomer bearing (5).
	Install
11	Lift rear muffler (4) with major assembly mount and mounting plate.

		Helper required.
12	Position new clamp (2) on rear muffler (4).
13.1	Position rear muffler (4) at center muffler (1).	Model 253 with engine 274.9 except code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system) Model 253 with engine 276.8
13.2	Position rear muffler (4) at gasoline particulate filter (7).	Model 253 with engine 274.9 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system)
13.3	Position rear muffler (4) at SCR catalytic converter (6).	Model 253 with engine 642, 651.9 with code U77 (Diesel Emission control BLUETEC (SCR))
14	Install elastomer bearing (5) on rear muffler (4).	Model 253 with engine 274.9, 276.8
15	Install elastomer bearing (3) on rear muffler (4).
16	Tighten new clamp (2).	Model 253 with engine 642 Clamp, connecting point for front of exhaust system to rear of exhaust system	BA49.10-P-1004-02K
		Model 253 with engine 274.9, 276.8, 651.9 Clamp, rear exhaust system to front exhaust system/rear exhaust system	*BA49.10-P-1011-02A
17	Lower major assembly mount and mounting plate and remove.

18	Check installation position and for unobstructed movement of rear muffler (4).	If complaints are present, ↓ Correct installation position of rear muffler (4).
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
19	Perform engine test run and check leak tightness of the exhaust system.
20	Disconnect vehicle from vehicle lift.		AR00.60-P-0100CW
