Rear Axle - Check Fluid Level, Adjust To Correct Level - AP35.10-P-3510G

WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.

  Preparatory activity     
1    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Lift vehicle with lifting platform.    
      AR00.60-P-1000G
    NOTES Vehicle must be horizontal.
Otherwise, the rear axle differential (3) will not be filled correctly and an incorrect oil filling capacity can lead to leakage and material damage.
 
INSPECT Check     
2 Ensure that correct axle is selected. NOTES Perform oil change on rear axle differential (3) and not on the through-drive housing of the rear axle (4).
Because the rear-axle's through-drive housing (4) has different filling capacities fro the rear-axle's differential (3).
 
INSPECT Check     
3 Check oil level in the rear axle differential (3). If the rear axle differential (3) is dry.  
     
    If the oil level in the rear axle differential (3) is correct. No further check necessary. Proceed with operation step 4.
If the rear axle differential (3) exhibits a slight oil film.
 
     
    If the oil level in the rear axle differential (3) is not correct. Correct oil level. AP35.00-P-3501G 
  Finishing activity     
4 Lower vehicle with vehicle lift. Only if the oil level in the rear axle differential (3) is correct.
